Re: Fresh water strainers and damaged impellers
Thanks for info related to fresh water strainers on PDQ 36 with Yanmars, or the lack thereof. The Mack Boring guy put fear of God in everyone at his maintenance seminar recently by saying clogged strainer on freshwater intake was among top 2 reasons for engine overheating and failure. The other big ...

Fresh water strainers on saildrives?
Recently I took the Mack Boring diesel maintenance classes and Larry Berlin emphasized the importance of periodicially checking and cleaning out the strainers on the raw water/fresh water side of the Yanmar 2GM20s. When I got back to my PDQ 36 LRC, Miss Kate II, however, the yard told me that there ...

Re: Proper prop pitch for PDQ 36 with YGM20s
Thanks for advice on pitching the props on our Yanmars aboard our PDQ36 LRC. . When we're back on Lake Huron in a few days we're planning the wide open throttle exercise to determine max RPMs on the engines under no stress and then see what we can achieve with engines engaged. Mechanic says this wil...

Proper prop pitch for PDQ 36 with YGM20s
When leaving the boatyard in Cleveland and heading north on the Great Lakes this spring the mechanics said the pitch was wrong on my Yanmar YGM20 diesels. A sea trial on the boat just before she left suggested the engines couldn't get to full RPM, which the yard attributed to wrong prop pitch. So, s...

Advice on solar panels
Thanks Jim for info on dimensions needed to install Force 10 oven/stove in PDQ. Next up: solar panel advice. I'm mounting panels aft of stern seat on PDQ 36 LRC. Trying to decide how many watts. Max out with a couple of 130-150 watt panels? Or, dial back to smaller, less expense panels suitable for ...

New owners of Magic Dragon
Hello all - We're the new owners of Magic Dragon, the PDQ LRC that Angela Barbati so lovingly cared for. We're renaming her Miss Kate II. I'm married to Miss Kate I. Currently, she is on the hard in Cleveland where we are doing a few upgrades. And that brings me to a question. We're putting in a For...
