Re: Shaft vibration

As I just wrote to Duetto in a private msg:

Yes, our added cutlass bearings have, in deed stopped leakage from our Tides Marine seals.
Our bilges have been bone dry since the installation two years ago, about 240 engine hours.
So far, so good. Money well spent!

Wide Opening Front Window

In preparation for the Exumas Adventure < http://www.rhumblineyachtsales.com/exumas.htm >, I decided it was time to give Sno' Dog a wide opening front window. As others have done, I used a piece of PVC pipe as a support post. I cut a grove in the top which locks it into the window handle. On the bo...

Re: Aft Hatch Flaps

Total cost of flaps was $65 +tax. Flaps were $25/ea, + $15 for 2 pcs of track. I supplied the 6 screws and a tube of silicone sealant. I did the installation myself - while standing in the dinghy! Here's a dimensioned drawing (can't help it, I'm an engineer): http://www.snodoglog.com/images/0318-Fl...

Aft Hatch Flaps

Inspired by Harvey Griggs on "Cats Away", I decided to add a set of Aft Hatch Flaps to Sno' Dog . Basically a couple of 4-in x 28-in white vinyl strips above the aft cabin hatches which prevent water from dripping in on the bed when the hatches are left slightly open. Here's what they loo...

Re: Listing to port

Hello Bob & Barbara, Yes, all the 34's have a tendency to list to port. We noticed this on the day we took delivery back in 2006. The solution is to put everything heavy on the starboard side, certainly you want your dinghy oriented with motor to starboard. We try to put only the lightest items...

Re: Shaft vibration

I believe they (Stuart Yacht) did exactly the same thing for us as they did for Catatonic . I relied heavily on their previous experience with this specific problem. For a more detailed explanation of exactly what was done, I'd give Gregg Burdick a call: 772-286-9800, I'm sure he'd be happy to expl...

Re: Shaft vibration

After reading Captnautigal's account with Catatonic , I decided to try the same thing with Sno' Dog . We have just completed the same procedure, here's a photo of the completed installation: http://www.snodoglog.com/images/3421-NewShaftBearing-SM.jpg In our case, the primary motivation was to elimi...

Re: Replacement LED lights for the Salon

I just added a page on SnoDogLog devoted to LED Lights.
See: www.snodoglog.com/LED-Lights.html. There's also a video clip of the colorful RGB exterior lights on Tom Mamczur's Katatomic (formerly Tina). Check it out.

Re: Replacement LED lights for the Salon

Not sure what you're calling a hockey puck? On our boat, I simply unscrewed the white ring (which allows the clear cover to come off), then I removed the incandescent bulb and inserted the LED, then I put the cover back on. I didn't mess with the reflector - which appears to be part of the fixture ...

Replacement LED lights for the Salon

Acting on a tip from Paul Gooding, former owner of PDQ 34-79 "Horizons" , I just replaced my OEM 10-watt incandescent salon lights with LED's. I found replacement "bulbs" which fit right into the existing fixtures - but just barely! Some snipping of the wire pins is necessary, b...

Re: PDQ and Pearson

Because SnoDogLog has been so consistently upbeat over the years, I've actually been asked (on more than one occasion) if our blog was being supported by PDQ! The answer is, of course, is no. But I admit, we were - and still are - serious enthusiasts and supporters of the PDQ brand. We were very mu...
