Re: Looking for a good yard for MV34 haul out

Holland Marine is in Green Cove Springs and says they can haul our boat. Any experience with them?

Looking for a good yard for MV34 haul out

I have a 2005 PDQ 34 motorcat and live on the St. John’s River south of Palatka. Has anyone know of a good yard in N. Florida that can haul us and do a decent bottom job?

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

There must have been a change in how the generator thru-hull is arranged on the 2005 34's vs. the earlier versions. In my boat I believe the generator water comes in to a inaccessible glassed-in tube which goes up to the shut-off valve, which is well above the water line. From there the intake hose ...

Re: Engine instrumentation upgrades

I guess the question is whether we go with a new Yanmar full instrument panels (assuming there is room for such) or simply add the instruments we want, and whether we want digital or analog. This sounds like it would be a simple project--which means it won't be. 8)

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

I have heard that a check valve should be installed to open in response to pressure, not suction and thus be located downstream of the RW pump. If my memory is correct, that is where there was one before. I don't know if it came that way from the factory or if a previous owner installed it. There is...

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

In the hazy past it seems I remember a mechanic remarking about a check valve in the raw water circuit between the raw water pump and the heat exchanger. He was of the opinion that such a check valve was a bad idea and we removed it. Now I think I know why it was there and why I should have left it ...

Engine instrumentation upgrades

Our 2005 MV34 only has full engine instrumentation at the lower helm--the steering station which we practically never use. We have the 75 hp engines. Has anyone added full engine instrumentation (engine temp/oil pressure/exhaust gas temp/etc) to their flybridge? If so, I would love to hear how you d...

Re: converting salon table to drop-leaf

Did you get the table converted to a drop leaf? If so, how did it work out? Sounds like a very worthy mod. Sure would like to see photos if you have any.

Generator raw water pump losing its prime

I have a 2005 MV34 (ELIXIR) with a Northern Lights genny. After replacing the raw water impeller for the second time in a matter of days I noted that as soon as the engine was stopped the water in the raw water strainer would drain back through the hose leading to the through hull fitting, leaving t...

Re: 9'6" dinghy

We actually have a 9'6" AB Lammina RIB on Elixir. You do have to push it around a bit when lifting it on the davits (mainly to clear the port hull) but it is manageable by two people without too much trouble. We carry it with the engine to starboard. We did make a flat fender to try and keep fr...

Re: leaky windows?

I will give this stuff a try. Hey, what can it hurt? As I don't know exactly where the leak originates, I suppose I will apply it to everything on or near the window. Has anyone removed the interior part of the Bomar windows (with the screws) to investigate leak sources? I am hesitant to get into a ...

leaky windows?

During a recent tropical storm accompanied by driving rain and wind, we noted a very small trickle of water running down the bulkhead between the galley and the guest stateroom on our 2005 MV34 (hull 63). The water was seen pooling on the top of the tall cabinet just aft of the sinks. Nothing was se...

Re: swapping out a bow roller?

Sounds like you have a different bow roller than mine. Mine is secured by 5 bolts, two on each side and one in the middle. I will try using the shim trick anyway; might get lucky!
