Looks great!
I hope ours turns out as nice... we're on the hard since last fall. Hope to get a bunch of maintenance done next summer.

Re: Kayaks
We have a couple of Hobies, a tandem standard and a older fisherman with the pedals (flippers) - my wife loves the pedal model, and I have to admit it's hard to keep up with her paddling. They are well made and will last a long time - they take up a lot of room but do fit across the trampoline. We d...

Re: propellers for the Yanmar engines on the 36 LRC
I have a 3 Blade Maxi-Prop and aside from the time and effort to replace the bearings it works great. II the Max is a 1991 and I think this was installed by the original owner, so I may have been the 1st to rebuild it. We have a single Yanmar in the port hull, and it's been pretty decent for the few...

Re: Buying. Understanding ownership costs.
For the last 10 years we've kept our PDQ 36 in DC as our "condo" - taking small trips in the summer but basically using it 4 nights a week and while not crusing getting a pretty good use for our investment. And... as you say it's way cooler to live on boat. My wife was a liveabord in DC wh...

Re: Buying. Understanding ownership costs.
Your numbers on the loan and insurance are probabaly OK, What you probably need to figure is that you are going to find areas where there are no anchorages and have to rent a slip. Also where will your home port be? Yacht Club, marina, mooring, etc...? At the yacht club where we keep our PDQ 36 in D...

Great info...
Very much like my vision of the final hard top project... this one will be an intermediate step and actually be a Bimini "firm" top.

Lifespan of original flex solar panels
Does anyone know what the expected lifespan of the OEM flexible solar panels is (and durability)? Ours seem to still output a charge, though not much. The wires are in pretty rough shape from UV and I'm surprised the mast base connector works at all. Reason I'm asking is that these are nice and ligh...

Thanks Drew,
That project is near the end of our To-Do list - will start on the hard Bimini next week. Extensions would be a few years out, so there's plenty of design time.

Re: Making a PDQ Altair 34
Drew, Looks really nice, are you still in Deale? We're planning on hauling at Herrington over the winter and it would be cool to check out your design. At some point I'd like to extend our stern but we would need a solution that would add some lift to the stern. II the Max sit's a little low aft due...

Re: Bedding the forward baby stay
Thanks Sam, I figured that this has been dealt with. My guess is that we've been lucky for so long because II the Max was never cruised extensibly. Next year we're hoping to get some more sailing time in, we're moving her from the Potomac up to the bay near our house. So as they say "it'sa time...

Re: Refrigerator Door Seal
Not sure what area you are in, but I found a local source for rolls of industrial grade gasket material by searching for rubber gasket products on the web. Ours is the old style box with the lifting cover, and I installed 7/16" by 1/2" wide gasket material around the door and it seals pret...
