Re: Imitation (inexpensive) Teak in the cockpit

Hi Ed and Linda: Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, I've got some experience with it now. I plan to redo a lot of the cockpit this Spring as I was testing a couple brands and styles of EVA. Here is what I learned; - EVA feels great on bare feet. Better then other synthetic teaks - The quality of adhesive...

Re: Imitation (inexpensive) Teak in the cockpit

Hi Brendan: I did all the cutting myself. That's why I limited myself to squared edges. They do offer custom cut pieces, as a nice option. Those were more expensive. I had purchased a SeaDek template kit for $15 that included all the markers and clear mylar template material. I made a few, and tried...

Imitation (inexpensive) Teak in the cockpit

I have been wanting to put something down on the main floor of the cockpit for a long time. The cover over the fuel tank is a bit slippery and is always a bit dirty looking. I looked at various imitation teak products over the years. But the work effort and expense was fairly high. I have purchased ...

Re: PDQ 36 LRC Backstay question

Hi: We have a 1996 Capella (outboards) 36 and it also sits with the chainplates in the water. We have never had any issues. We cover them with paint them and dit put Lanacote on them for a few years, but they dont seem to have any issues. We love our 36. Let me know if we can answer any questions. B...

Re: Honda 15s, initial notes

Thanks Drew. Actually I used outboard lower unit paint, made for this purpose. I use HydroCoat Eco on the boat bottom anyway, which has no copper.

Thanks for the thought.

Re: Honda 15s, initial notes

Now have 12 hours on them. Same on gas as the 9.9s (perhaps better), great speed (a knot or more faster then the 9.9s when motoring, 2+ knots faster when motor-sailing with the Genny). But the size is an issue as they can't fully tilt out of the water. They are noticeably quieter than the Yamaha 9.9...

Great stuff Drew! Thanks. I have yet to order the bags and begin to build this, but plan to in july. I'll let you know how it goes. Should you desire to make 'house calls', I can feed you and give you libations in exchange for advice.

Best,
Eric

Re: Water Filters--Specifically PDQ 32, but other options al

Thanks Drew. I may do the same with the internal water system. The would save space as the 3 stage-UV unit is large. I'd like to play with a way to use the 3 stage-UV unit to filter rain water off of the hard top. I have it filling a couple jerry jugs. I use the water for washing the deck or sun sho...

Hi Drew: I purchased this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Survival-UV-Wat ... 0968716142

I have yet to install it. It's still in the box. Want to use it for testing?

Best,
Eric

Honda 15s, initial notes

Hi: This is for anyone interested in the Honda 15s. I bought two this winter and paid to have them installed. I helped a bit and learned a lot. So with only 1.5 hours on the engines and still doing the early break-in period, I have an intial list of pros and cons. Pros Fast and powerful (at 4000 rpm...

Anyone have any insight on the Honda 15 high thrust?

Anyone have any insight on the Honda BFP15D3XRT? I could not find much on it, so it might be fairly new. The specs seemed pretty close to the Yamaha 9.9s in shaft, prop type, etc., with a bit more horse power that might do a little more. Not sure though and hesitant to be the first to find out. :-) ...

Re: Mainsail Advise II

You've got more experience than me in fast boats - I've sailed a stiletto three times in the late 1980 and it still pops into my dreams... But I do know loose foot does better on rigging stress and sail adjustments. The new sails on our 36 are loose foot and work well. So another vote. I had the Rep...
