Re: marine plywood
From my experience treated plywood tends to delamimate and warp. Marine plywood is much more stable and if epoxy encapsulated should be more rot proof than treated ply.

Re: marine plywood
Marine plywood should have no voids, have more plies than standard plywood and a waterproof glue. Encapsulating marine ply in epoxy is a tried and true method that has proven itself over countless years. I have had numerous experiences with pt plywood in the house building industry over the years an...

Re: New member questions
Admiral, the owner of the PDQ 36 with daggerboards has purchased a Outremer 45 and was interested in selling his PDQ 36. May be worth shooting him a pm if interested.

I believe Europe insists on an escape hatch but not the US.

Re: lower case transmission oil change
It can be easy to disconnect the shift rod or it can take quite some time with corrosionx and gently working it loose. I've had it go both ways.

Re: lower case transmission oil change
I haven't but my friend on his Seawind 1000 changes his lower unit oil and impeller this way. I'm guessing the hardest part would be disconnecting the shift rod.

You could pull the lower unit of from a dinghy, change the lower unit oil then reinstall.

Re: 1993 PDQ 36 for sale
Just splashed after a week hauled out in the yard. Three coats of Ameron ABC ablative bottom paint, compounded and waxed the hulls and replaced the impellers and lower unit oil in the outboards. Still the lowest priced PDQ 36 in the US and maybe the cleanest!

Re: Anyone with experience with composting head?
We really like the C-Head. You have to change the solids 4 times as often but it's a 30 second job and really easy to do. The liquids container is a basic one gallon milk or water jug so once it gets a little funky just throw it away and replace. The C-Head is great for a live aboard couple or weeke...

Re: Anyone with experience with composting head?
We have owned 4 composting heads and will NEVER go back to a conventional head. We have owned an Airhead, 2 Naturesheads and now a C-Head. First of there is hardly any odor. When it's close to time to change you may get an earthy smell but only when the head is open and in use. There are no thru hul...

Re: Sunshine was sunk by the US Coast Guard
Sorry to hear about the loss of your PDQ. Seems the CG got out of giving tows to boats years ago unless they were in danger. Sad to hear it wasn't handled correctly but kudos to the CG for doing what they thought was the right thing and trying to lend a hand. Could you pass on more information about...
