I was fortunate to have one of those come with our boat and can say it is a wonderful device.
Thank you, Dick, for going to all that trouble for the PDQ family.

Re: Charging Battery with Generator
Some more info for consideration, Brian. With a reasonable wattage of solar, for many days in Florida you can replenish overnight losses without need for the generator. You will need the genset to heat domestic water, of course, and run A/C and maybe your microwave. Batteries, somewhat excluding the...

Re: Boat Show
Every boat is a compromise, of course, but I remain amazed and pleased at how much thought went into the design of our boats.

Re: Port windows
I have not yet removed the port frames, but I would have assumed they are bedded with something like butyl caulk and I would certainly hope not glued. It might take some warmth from a heat gun (be careful) to allow you to separate the frame from the hull. Hopefully, someone else here has actual expe...

For those that missed it, it was a good, informative event. Our thanks go out to Beth, Ross, Dick, Carol, James, Adam and others (including owner presenters) that helped make the rendezvous a success.

Re: Prop Zinc Wear
Going from memory, I believe that faults in the shore power wiring can introduce an electric field in the water. The field is strongest nearest the underwater fault, so in the unlikely event this is your problem, is the port side closer to the shore power? A good marine electrician can test for you....

Re: Solar System Connection
Good point, Mark. I made the connection to the main bus, which is the same thing but has a shorter run of cable (less voltage loss) to the house bank. Funny how those little details get lost.

Re: Dyneema Lifelines
Nice work, Brian. When you stated " I figured lifelines only need about 200-300lbs of force," that is not correct. If a rope (or wire, etc,) is taut between two rigid attachment points and you exert a perpendicular force, say at the middle, the tension in the rope will be many times higher...

Re: Solar System Connection
I believe the proper way is connect to the house battery bank. If any of the batteries connected to the combiner (house, engine 1, engine 2) "see" a charging voltage above the combiner threshold, the combiner will close the circuit to apply that voltage to all connected batteries. We have ...

Re: Starter Breaker
BJ, if it is the starter relay, the one on our 75HP engines is right under the starter solenoid and very difficult to get to. If you need to replace it, keep in mind that it is just a simple 12VDC relay and you do not need a direct Yanmar replacement part. Our replacement was an automotive relay tha...
