Re: Bridgedeck clearance? Prospective buyer
As you probably know, all multihulls slam into oncoming seas, some worse than others Having sailed a PDQ36 (hull#10) for 18 years I guess I just got used to it :o) Seriously, it is not a problem although each slam slows the speed through the water by about 2-3 kts. It does not seem to affect the str...

Re: Cutlass Bearing Replacement
Having sold my 2006 PDQ a year ago, I am writing this from memory (scary I Know!) Regarding cutlass bearings; BITE is the cutlass bearing I used. I also cut the aft end of the fiberglass tube holding the bearing about 3/8" after removal so in the future I could get a grip on the cutlass to remo...

Re: PDQ 36 Free Rudder
This rudder is now promised to Sam Densler!
Sam’s the man!
Mark,
He who goes in circles shall be known as a wheel.
It was just slowing me down due to the drag!

Re: gps wiring?
I have also had the "no fix" GPS issue.
Unplugging the cables under the master unit in the electronic cabinet and resetting them solved the problem.
I think we are dealing with very low voltages here and any resistance causes a "no fix"

Re: $29 can safe you thousands $$$
Mac, Just go to borelmfg.com and read the commentary I bought the dual alarm and called the factory to replace eng 1 and 2 with Port and Stb. on the warning panel Installation just involves putting the supplied bands around the exhaust hoses downstream of the Elbows and running wires to the helm sta...

Re: 4JH3-HTE Engine problem
John,
Yes, I bought them online at E-Bay
Go to E-Bay and search for Yanmar Exhaust Elbow
It is listed as L3 SS Exh Elbow replaces 129673-13552 @ $270. ea
Be sure to get new exhaust gaskets also
Hopefully you won't twist off a stud which involves removing the turbo and taking it to a machine shop!

Re: 4JH3-HTE Engine problem
I assume you’re talking about the exhaust elbows now.
They are available online cast from 316 as at a very reasonable price. I’ve had them on AllezCatII for a few years with no problems

Re: $29 can safe you thousands $$$
Dick,
This is why I installed a raw water failure alarm on AllezCatII to alert if there is any loss of cooling to the exhaust system.
It is easy to install at minimal cost.
Borelmfg.com
Glad the outcome wasn’t worse!

Re: 4JH3-HTE Engine problem
No carbon buildup, just rust
Used a small drum stone tool and a small drum sanding cylinder in the Dremel to remove rust.
Then mate the two pieces to see if the wheel spins freely

Loss of Power on Yanmar 4JH3-HTE
I've had this happen twice now and thought I'd pass it on for info. Symptoms: Engine will not come up to full power (RPM's) and black smoke emitting at half throttle and above. Remedy: First - Check all fuel filters clean. Next - Remove the air cleaner on the engine and with your finger reach in and...

Propshaft pitting
Has anyone experienced shaft pitting under the Tides lip seals causing leaks? I now have this on both shafts and am considering replacing both Tides seals and moving them slightly so they ride on a smooth part of the shaft. The seals have performed admirably until now.
