Re: Electric gremlin
My 120 volt shore 1 runs thru the inverter/charger. The generator does also - hence the entire 120 volt system when the generator is running. I can only power up the 120 volt Bus B with a "Para Bus A + B" switch when the generator is running. Both of my air conditioners are on Bus B, howev...

Re: Buying a PDQ Trawler Cat
Yes, It is a great cruising boat. All of the comforts of home. Great fuel economy. Very easy to dock. We use our boat a lot for day trips while other cruisers (mostly single screw sailboats) sit and sit at the dock. I too had engine overheating problems soon after I bought my PDQ in 2009. I had a me...

Re: Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
Both the texting phone number and email are still good. I can take a picture of what I have about blocking but it is text only - No Diagram. Send me your email via text or email (I check them often when in cellular tower range) and I'll provide what I have. It is what I've copied from this forum and...

Re: Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
John, I sent you a private message regarding the blocking diagram. Not sure if you got it. My 2003 owner's manual doesn't have a blocking diagram. Perhaps the later ones do. I've gone by what has been posted on this forum and what Greg Burdick at Stuart Yacht has sent me. James Mills Rhumbline Hull ...

Re: Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
I have the Yanmar 129670-42531 and the Jabsco 3085-0001-P both in my hands as I type. The Jabsco impeller is beefier without the threaded hub and has 10 vanes. The Yanmar is more flexible with a threaded hub and has 12 vanes. I think they should both work fine, however, the threaded hub and the litt...

Re: Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
Ok John, now I'm really confused. My Sarasota area mechanic/Yanmar dealer sold me some Yanmar impellers ending in -42531. Your recent post for the Yanmar brand impellers part number ends in -42530. A typo or on purpose typing? I DO Really appreciate your help with this - and this forum is a great so...

Re: Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
Thanks John for the reply. That part number is for the Yanmar brand impeller. There is also a Jabsco brand impeller that works also, however, it doesn't have the threaded hub, so it is a lot more difficult to change out. Perhaps the effort, price savings ratio is not worth it. The last time I had my...

Jabsco equivalent impeller for 75hp motor
Hello group,
Can anyone tell me the Jabsco profile and number for the impeller on the 75hp motors. Some how I don't have it in my paperwork. The boat is far away but I'm going to it soon.
Thanks,
James Mills

Re: Reconfiguring engine compartment ventilation
John, thanks for the reply. Your suggestion is appreciated and might be the best solution. I'm in Florida and the boat is in Guatemala and I'm trying to decide if I want to do this ventilation project or not. Cutting a hole in the top step still puts you into the living area (I think) and makes for ...

Re: Replacing house batteries
Yes, I ran the large wires from the breaker. I'm no electrician, but I do know that larger wires for long runs is better. I used extra large wires. Like most projects involving boats, it was a chore, however, I found the difference it made to be considerable. Hope this helps. James Mills Hull #27 Rh...

Reconfiguring engine compartment ventilation
On the PDQ 34 powercat, one of the best little cruising powerboats of all time, I think one of the biggest design flaws is the location of the vent for the engine compartments. While running in some sea states, water can come up the transom steps and into the vent, sloshing salt water into the engin...

Re: Replacing house batteries
On Rhumbline, I replaced the smallish wires to the refrigerator, with some very large ones. This made a big difference - allowing the fridge to run for much longer times between charging the batteries.

Re: Quick Genius 1000 Windlass
Richard, thanks so much for your post! I ordered the last one they had this morning. Our original windlass broke about a month ago the last week we were out at Lighthouse Reef Atoll in Belize. Needless to say, we moved the boat around a bit less after that. Original foot print and "plug & p...

Re: Cruising to lower Caribbean on power cat?
I refueled Rhumbline in Isla Mujeres, Mexico early June of 2013 after crossing the Gulf of Mexico from Key West a few days prior. The fuel tanks were completely full when I left Key West and it took 115 gallons of diesel to top them off in Mexico. A direct Rhumbline course from Key West to Isla Muje...

Re: Damaged my props & 4 bladed props
Hi Mark and Diana, No need to post a reply to my prior post. I delved into the forum history and found all of my answers. Something I should have done prior to asking you about your situation. I need new props for my 75's . Whether I'll stick with the 3 bladed variety or upgrade to the 4 bladed is u...
