Anchor Chain

As Chet said, check the windless requirements. With that said, we would recommend at least 100' of chain if you will ever be in an area of heavy current. When wind vs. current, the PDQ will sail up over the anchor and, if you have line, it will get hung up on your rudder or keel. The weight of the c...

Refrigeration

We have a Adler Barbour Cold Machine made in 2000. Over the years it seems the unit runs more often then when it was new. When new, the cycle was about 30% on and 70% off - now it's more like 90% on. The temps are acceptable at about 45 in the box and high 20's in the freezer. Since nothing changed ...

We are very happy with ours... We use it year round... I did find that a lack ofvertical clearance caused some type of over-temp to shut it down.. I moved it lower and installed a small muffin fan to vent the heat to the rear compartment where the steering/rudder is located.

Check out the Excel heater as as an alternative. Inexpensive and easy to install and working good after 1 year. I think there are more details on the board already. $300Check with Lady of the Lake (Sam Densler).

WE also use colored wire ties. Red = 25' Yellow = 50" Green = 75' Black = 100" After 100 feet, we combine the original color with black so Red & Black = 125' etc. They last at least 1 year... When we get to rode/line we use strips of colored spinnaker fabric twisted within the twisted ...

As a reminder, while in Nassau last year, I visited the Yamaha dealer (Harbourside Marine). They do have (what appears to be) the old style 9.9's that are still sold internationally. There is a 6 month lead time on the order and I didn't get a price since I'm still good for a year or more. For info,...

Outboard Repair in Stuart FL

I would like to get our Merc 15hp, 2-stroke looked at while we're in Stuart FL. Can anyone recommend a 2-stroke mechanic in that area that they trust. No major problems, just a good looking over before going to the Bahamas.

The std. PDQ36 is 47 feet so I have to believe you'll be OK. However, I'm sure some PDQ32 member will give you the exact height.

When I first encountered this problem, Debbie Slater looked into it immediately. Currently, in Canada, it's not a problem since the Canadian version remains the same. That's why s/v Tanah Keeta imported a pair of 9.9's from Canada (see previous postings). It's possible, the ones sold in the Bahamas ...
