Yikes - I've not seen that before either. My guess - and it's purely a guess - is that this very well could be caused by repeated strain to cause cracking and compression to chip pieces out, not inconsistent with being hard aground and getting banged around a lot, or possibly even banged against som...

To achieve a "relatively brief dry out" that is as effective as possible, I have had good results in the past with getting some alcohol in there. It mixes with the water and makes it evaporate much more quickly and thoroughly. My trick is to get a small pesticide spraying tank that you pum...

Just an FYI after-the-fact, since I didn't see anyone had mentioned it: Tidewater Yacht Service Center at Port Covington Marine Center in Baltimore is very familiar with the PDQ 36, accomodates it easily, and does good work if you need it.
