Re: Starter Breaker

Check the battery switch behind the door in each stateroom (under the locker behind door when door is open)? Cycle switch they do go bad.

Also check that the motor is in neutral!

Hope that helps.

Re: Engine Gauges analogue to digital conversion

To add to this digital conversion thread- once you have the NMEA network its easy to set up an exhaust elbow thermostat alarm. Our setup is just a large hose clamp, aluminum block, and a Sensata C53GAB140A-125Y. These thermostats are very reliable and this particular one will close the switch at 140...

Re: Engine Gauges analogue to digital conversion

Nice work Dennis!

Where did you get 126 pulses per revolution? I set mine to 127 pulses per revolution based on "internet sources" - if you google the phrase "yanmar rpm pulses 127" it seems to indicate it should be 127?? That is what my EMU-1's are set at.

Thanks!

Re: Boat Insurance

We are in Florida and have Geico and are at $2800/yr. Talk directly to a Geico agent and you shouldn't have a problem- have them look at other PDQ rates in the state. When we first got quotes they thought we were a "high power" catamaran and quoted us a much higher rate- Then they realized...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction

You can ease impeller off using two pairs of pliers 180 degrees apart and rocking them back and forth. I would replace impeller and then check the cooling water exit hole- a lot of times barnacles/oyster-like stuff tries to grow in there. Use a flat head screwdriver to clear it. Any recommendations ...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction

The impeller vanes are backwards on a few of the vanes (impeller is ruined) you will need to replace the impeller. Recommend checking the water exit hole using your finger. I would use a garden hose to backflush the intake- if there is a large obstruction air could feasibly pass by but not much wate...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction

Take a garden hose and backflush the strainer- hold the spigot tightly to the strainer intake hose and it will blow out the intake line. This occasionally happens but is a quick fix. Once its blown out you will hear bubble sounds coming up the hull.

Re: Engine temperature

Our Yanmar temp and RPM gauges do not report accurate temps/RPMs. It may be due to the wiring runs and voltage drops. One of our RPM gauges is actually 200-300 rpm off! I installed EMU-1 engine monitors on each engine and they are spot on- the engine thermostats open up at exactly 169F and the engin...

Re: Restriction in Blackwater Line from Head

The hose shouldnt be that difficult to replace- connect the new hose(union/tape) to the old hose and feed it from forward to aft. Highly recommend Raritan saniflex hose. You may have to get into the shower and reach underneath to help pull it aft. We have a 2006 so yours could be different… I did ou...
