Broken transmission cable

I just experienced a broken transmission cable while coming into a marina slip. The following may be of interest. When this happens and the engine is in gear the control works the throttle normally but will not shift the transmission to neutral or reverse direction from where it was when the cable b...

Re: Area Rugs

We had some custom made by Corinthian Marine. They have a pattern kit. Extremely satisfied with the outcome. Price was reasonable and the carpets are easy to take up and clean. They may still have the patterns. As you may see from their website, they do have a library of patterns for standard sized ...

Re: Priming washdown pump

My washdown pump also lost its prime and would not function. The 90 degree elbow fitting that screws into the deck valve was loose. The caulking that was used at installation was deteriorated. Took it off. Need to remove hose from pump to unscrew fromdeck fitting. Clean fitting well and applied some...

Re: Springfield double helm seat

I replaced my Springfield double helm seat some years ago. The wood bottom had rotted. Springfield sent a nice replacement seat with a synthetic bottom and two pedestals which I did not use. Just put the new seat on the old hardware. You are welcome to the pedestals if you like. Need to ship from Se...

Mac

On mine the flybridge supply works all the instruments including the chart plotter and the Yanmar instrument clusters. Electric outlets are not affected.

Re: Life Line Replacement

Same experience as Mac.

Took mine off and had West Marine make new ones with SS. Putting them back was easy. I am happy with how they look and the cost thru WM was much better than anything else locally. WM actually has a rigging shop in their Seattle Store where I am.

Re: Steering Fluid Reservoir

If you are having to fill the reservoir at the top regularly, I would be suspicious of a leak somewhere. Mine was as the stern equalizer valve used for aligning the rudders. On simply tightening the fitting, no more leak and I have not had to add fluid for some time now. I also am not aware of any s...

Re: Replaced the water heater

I replaced my water heater about a year ago with a Nautic Boiler. The exterior is composite material and it is round. As mentioned the space is tight. I liked this because of the composite external surface and the round shape. No sharp corners. More importantly I can tell you that tight as it is, on...

Re: Berth Reading lights

On mine the wires run through the space below the battery box where we have a diesel and hydronic heater. There is not much extra length on the wire so be carful when trying to change the lights! Unfortunately we have been in that space recently because of a battery leaking acid. The battery box was...

Thanks for the input. It is helpful. I think I'll price new stainless lines from WM or Fisheries and put them on myself.

Life Line Replacement

Has anyone replaced their lifelines with Dynema or similar material instead of stainless wire? Would be interested in any experience. The xinyl coating on mine is cracked and dis colored.

Re: Rebuilt Engines for Sale - Like NEW 2006 PDQ 34

I am curious how the engines were physically changed out. Can you provide any information on the process that was used given the tight quarters?

Re: Interior Carpets.

We were happy with the thinner cheap carpet as well but are very pleased with the new ones. There is thinner carpet available from Corinthian. The exact fit from the templates is very nice as well. Jim, please contact me at tomortho@aol.com and I'll be glad to send you some pictures. I don't know ho...
