Re: Which route to lower Caribbean for PDQ's

YMMV but I know some PDQ36's that have made open ocean passages and no one has ever mentioned the need for an emergency escape hatch to satisfy insurance requirements. In fact, on one occasion we made a long off shore passage (under a trip rider extending coverage for off shore) and the insurance co...

Re: 36 with daggerboards?

PDQ Express Cruiser - circa 2000 maybe? http://www.multihull-maven.com/Boats/PDQ_36_Express_Cruiser Powered with outboards. Many modifications when compared to the Capella in order to save weight and make the boat faster. There is also an early PDQ36 Classic that was modified in western Ontario, add...

Re: Bomar PortLights

Hi James I did indeed send photos to Bomar. I waited a few days and when they hadn't replied to my email I sent the email again. After more than a week without a reply I had to phone them. I am in the southern Caribbean and the cell phone call was not inexpensive. (Internet down here is often way to...

Bomar PortLights

Hello Folks I have an older 36 with four Bomar Portlights, one in each stateroom, one in the head, and one in the aft cabin. One of the latches that hold the portlight closed broke. These are the lever type latches that are held in place with a single (allen head) bolt. They swing up to latch. Bomar...

12vdc Reefer - Troubleshooting tips

I'm not a refrigeration expert. My fridge croaked a few times in the middle of nowhere and I just learned a few things about it while fixing it and while helping a couple of other people who were stuck too. When the beer gets warm I get motivated! FWIW, in my opinion it's well worth the cost to hire...

Re: Fridge replacement

Having repaired my reefer a few times....if the Nova Kool uses a 12vdc Danfoss compressor, it's probably not dead. They are very durable units.

There are quite a few things that will stop the compressor from starting, almost all are easily corrected.

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

In regard to a previous post here, I have been meaning to get around to posting this confirmation for a while. For those of you with the new Yamaha T9.9GPXR type outboards and Yamaha key switches: When starting the engine, if you press the key in and hold it in while the starter turns the engine ove...

Re: Water in port rudder compartment

I have an older (1992) 36. When you speak of the inspection port: My inspection ports are roughly 6 inch diameter round ones, and they're as far forward in the stern lockers as they can possibly go. In front of the steering quadrants. I can look in, but there is NO WAY I can reach the rudder posts, ...

Re: Yamaha Outboard Engine Service Manuals - now online

If you get the chance to snag the manual for the newer engines (post 2006) that would be just awesome!

T9.9GPXR is the model.

I believe that the manual is LIT-18616-03-03

Thanks!!!!

Re: 9.9 won't run above an idle

There is a chance (depending on the model of engine) that it's equipped with the Yamaha "Alert" system. The Alert system engages when the oil pressure is too low. One the alert system engages the engine will be limited to about 2000 RPM. You won't be able to increase RPM's as long as the Alert syste...

Re: Cheap PDQ 36

That asking price isn't just low, it's insane by any measure.

There absolutely has to be something more to this story.

Re: Transom edge guard

The transom edge guard for the 36 was molded out of fiberglass and gel-coated, then attached to the transoms with marine adhesive.
