Davits- free to a good home

Yes, I am well aware of the impact of dynamic loading, but sometimes excrement happens.... ;) On our most recent run to the Bahamas I buckled the port davit when we encountered an unexpectedly nasty squall. The good news is that we now have a new set of Kato davits on Tampa Girl. The better news for...

Re: Painting the Boat

Our 2005 is in similar need. FYI- In 2017 we received an estimate from a painter in Tampa/St Pete that came highly recommended by one of my partners who had his trawler painted. $8000 for the topsides (fair imperfections, prime and paint white, and new non-skid). $12,000 to re-paint the hulls light ...

New A/C vent for salon

When we replaced the a/c unit for the cabins, we had a new vent plumbed under the cabin entry stairs to allow the cabin a/c unit to also direct cool air into the salon. It makes a huge difference having the salon a/c unit supplemented by the cabin a/c unit. Having lost an a/c unit while at anchor in...

Re: Hello from new owner

I'm betting the stiff steering is b/c the rudders are out of alignment. Takes 5 minutes to align. While at dock, turn wheel all the way to port and have mate hold it there under light pressure. Open the balancing valve (probably under floor of starboard inboard locker). have mate continue turning wh...

Re: New Owner Questions

Regarding the leak in the starboard cabin, we had the following three culprits each contributing their share- 1) It could be leaking through the horizontal joints of the parts that make up the lower door assembly for the main hatch. Clean the joint between aluminum frame where it meets the fiberglas...

storage under port seats opposite the lower helm?

Has anyone determined whether there is space available under the port seat opposite the lower helm to convert to a storage area? Some of the area under that seat appears to be consumed by the lockers in the port cabin, but a non-invasive inspection with a tape measure seems to indicate there is unus...

Welcome to the club!
Part number for the fixed window gasket is 30-1135. Call Pompanette @ 603-826-5791. Great service. Price is about $3.50/foot. Middle forward (operable) window uses a different gasket. Not sure what that part number is.

Mastry Engine Center Diesel School

Big thanks to Dick for setting up the diesel engine school held last week.
Well worth the time and money. I think everyone had several "Oh, that's how that's done!" moments.
If/when they do it again, sign up!

Re: Generator Area Silver Sound Insulation

We replaced ours a year or so ago. We bought the foam panels and installation kit from either Defender or Jamestown distributors. In addition to what James states, we also installed the aluminum tabs/spikes on the horizontal panels as well as the overhead. Make sure all of the old contact cement is ...

Re: BOTTOM PAINT

Tampa Girl is in Tampa Bay which I feel is a very aggressive environment (lots of nutrients for barnacles, etc.) and we have had good experience with Seahawk Biocop. Easily get 2 years per bottom job with monthly brushing by a diver.

Re: Cost to repaint?

Thanks James.
The price for the deck was two coats of primer, new non-skid and 2 coats of paint. Deck hardware would be taped because the bedding is sound. Above deck hardware would be removed and reinstalled. The individual has a great reputation for meticulous work.

Re: Irma

Tampa Girl is at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club's new floating concrete marina and suffered no damage. Anita and I can now truthfully say that we rode out Hurricane Irma on a 34' PDQ power cat! Not all that impressive (or reckless), because the PDQ that we actually were on when Irma hit Florida wa...

Cost to repaint?

We are looking for a reality check regarding the price to repaint Tampa Girl. The estimate we received was $8,000 to prime and paint the top sides and reapply non-skid. An additional $12,000 to repaint the hulls light blue. Anyone have any information on the cost to repaint, or a recommendation for ...
