No manual choke on 2016 Yamaha 9.9 XPB

I just replaced old T8s with manual choke with new T9.9s with no manual choke. My 2000 PDQ36 has the standard single key switches that do not have the 'push-to-choke' option. Has anybody else dealt with this? I'm guessing the only option is to replace the old ignition switches with new ones with the...

Re: Replacing Fixed Windows

So, you think 1/8" is enough?

We've got some evidence to support this.

I'll try it.

Re: Replacing Fixed Windows

I found this reference from Dow Corning: https://www.dowcorning.com/content/publishedlit/62-1112-construction-us-tech-manual.pdf I think it says minimum gap and grip are both 1/4". It specifically talks to the much heavier plates on the outside of skyscrapers. Nothing about the lighter lexan applica...

Re: Replacing Fixed Windows

On this page https://blog.koehlmann.ca/marine-maintenance/replacing-the-main-port-windows/ , Koehlmann suggests "about a 1/4 inch" of space is needed for correct bonding. Iriemon from this forum suggests 1/8" is sufficient: http://www.pdqforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2968&p=11897&hilit=port+sealant...

Re: Replacing Fixed Windows

Hi Drew, Although I'm not replacing the portlights now, I am interested in using Dow 795 to adhere the existing portlights. This article by Don Casey in Sail Magazine describes a method using Dow 795 and VHB tape: http://www.sailmagazine.com/diy/maintenance/replacing-fixed-portlights/ I have not yet...

Re: PDQ 36 mainsail dacron weight?

The sails I replaced were Triton made.

I'll keep them for emergencies.

Re: PDQ 36 mainsail dacron weight?

I am a second owner. The sails on my boat looked original. The PO {and initial PDQ customer} could not confirm this because he escaped to the great beyond. So,I replaced with what was on the boat. The manual (2 available on pdq36.com) does not address the possible original(design) recommendations. S...

Re: PDQ 36 mainsail dacron weight?

I just had my sails replaced in November. 7.4 ounce for the Mainsail, 6.4 ounce for the Genoa. We just copied the originals. I hope this helps.

T8 Power Tilt Motor maintenance

Howdy folks! Louise, my port engine, was stuck in a midway position. She was just enough in the water to get some serious STDs, but not far enough to do anything worthwhile. Louise and friends small.jpg So I tried a couple of different wiring combinations to troubleshoot the switches. it was not the...

Re: Yamaha 8 vs 9.9

I've got older T8s on my 36. They work fine and came with the boat. I've lived on the boat for three years now. When they die, I'll replace with the 9.9s. Why? POWER.Who knows, may come back to 8s after that. BTW, hit 9 knots today! Gradually reduced sail to second reef and about 50% Genny and sailed...

Re: Side Window maker/model

Brendan,

Mine are Lewmar Coastline SZ61. If they are Lewmar, the model and size should be embossed on the lower right corner of the original lens. There is a sticker on mine that says Lewmar too.

Here are some pix.

Re: Source for Cockpit Drain Grates

Thanks TW,

Your cockpit project popped up when I was searching for the replacement part. Those are two good alternatives that you suggest.

Is it odd that we don't have a master parts list for these boats? I have to guess that they existed when the boats were being built.

Still hopeful,

Source for Cockpit Drain Grates

Howdy folks!

Has anyone found a replacement for these cockpit drain grates? I've seen them on both the 32 and 36.

Good ideas? Better ideas?

Re: Selden In-Boom Reefing

Here are two booklets from Selden that helped get the project completed.

There were markings etched in the boom and mast that identified them as PDQ parts. It gave the boom length too.

I hope this helps someone.
