Re: Port engine runs hotter than Starboard.
hi all, this is yet another aspect of this thread and applies to the 75hp engines. over the past month i've noticed a general performance mushiness and engines running hotter at higher rpms. i jumped in the water to check the bottom. it seemed pretty clean: no barnacles and just a slight algae build...

hi steve, don't know if you ever heard from bill beach, but assuming you didn't, i'll give you his abridged impressions. he would agree with george. he did not have very good results with it either. his best results were with petit's 3 part system. metal etch, tie-coat, and hard antifouling. he conv...

Re: Hydraulic steering cylinder
hi,
couple of fup questions:
1) when you disconnected the hoses, a) how did you plug hoses b) how much fluid did you lose?
2) where did you get the replacement cylinder? how much did it cost?
3) why didn't you add fluid thru the upper helm station? did it have a tendency to overflow?

Re: Hydraulic steering cylinder
hi mary, when we first got our boat it had a cylinder replaced. the yard did not do a good job at bleeding which i subsequently did. it was adequate, but i suspect that there is some air in lines between cylinders. so i think a full bleed job is the way to go, but haven't figured out how to get at t...

Re: Time for new House Batteries
hi sandy, when we bought our boat in 2005 the original trojans were "toast". we replaced them with exide 3600s (180 ah) from sams for about $65. we made three round trips to fl-bahamas-ct with lots of anchoring. we decided to replace this year because batteries in bahamas are very expensiv...

Re: Ground Tackle
i should probably start a new thread but i'll start this here. i'm interested in the manson/rocna. we're on a 34' powercat. we currently use a 45# spade. we've only had one case of dragging and that was in grass in the bahamas. we've learned the spade needs time & power to burrow through the gra...
