Sliding Glass Door

Our sliding glass door has become harder and harder to slide. Any advice on how to make it easier?

Re: Wanted. Mainsail for older 36

Having just replaced my mainsail with one from Calvert sails, I have one available. Was thinking I would keep the old one, just in case, but if you need one, maybe we could work something out. It is in reasonably good condition, having sailed for 6 seasons. The stack pack is available as well, but n...

Re: but he never had to deal with Yamaha USA.

For those of you on the Chesapeake, there is a Yamaha authorized dealer just north of Baltimore: Beacon Light. I have used them for repairs and maintenance. They come to the boat, and if necessary remove the engine and transport it back to their shop. They have been very good to deal with. (Notice I...

Re: IF you could have ANYTHING YOU WANTED...

For the VHF radio, we love the PA/loud hailer with listenback and auto-fog features.
For the chartplotter/GPS/Radar, get the large screen color.
For the autohelm, get the remote.

Re: screening main cabin hatch/door area

We bought a velcro/screen kit from Improvements catalogue. See

Had to trim it, but it works great and is lightweight.

Re: Rigid Boom Vang

I had ordered one with my 2003 Capella. Unfortunately, because I also have a boom break, it would not fit. I decided I liked the boom brake better -- it so convenient in controlling jibes -- so we returned the boom vang. In retrospect, due to the wide traveler on the hardtop, I rarely miss the vang.

Re: Main Sail Size

Thanks Sandy -- that was exactly what I thought, but it wasn't really my question. I was asking what the maximum size main is I could have without overloading the rigging, mast, etc.

Main Sail Size

I am wondering what the maximum size main is I can put on the boat if I buy new sails. We have the standard height mast (Hull # 96), with the double-diamond reinforcement. Thus, there are no back stays - only side stays, set a few feet aft of the mast.

Re: Stack Pack

Looks good. Mine is supported by one at each end and 2 in the middle -- total of 4, which seems fine.

By the way, I need a new one - want to make another?

Raymarine Display

Hi gang Last year we upgraded the Chartplotter display unit on our PDQ 36 to the large color one when the new series came out and the price dropped on the old series. Therefore the original is available for sale. Here are some specs: [*]it was new in 2003 [*]it is the display that came with the Raym...

Re: Sail area

Phil asked "Were you able to get the boat certified? What rating did you finally end up with? What sail area dimensions did you use?" I submitted my calculations on sail area, but the committee just decide to give me the same rating as a Gemini, because they had that number. I believe he s...

Re: Sail area

Phil asked how we did in the Constellation Cup race. Here is what I had written up about it: Double Eagle II and her crew (3 good friends of mine) competed for the very first time in an actual organized sailboat race. This was called the "Constellation Cup", not in honor of Constellation E...
