Re: Restriction in Blackwater Line from Head

He Bjgin, All good recommendations from the group. Just replaced all the sanitation hoses on another 34 last week and was straight forward. If the hose under the shower stall is giving grief to remove muriatic acid will help as mentioned and have a look for any zip ties that may have been installed ...

Re: RUDDER PACKING

Hey All, Speaking of rudders, there were a few different designs on how the rudder stock was secured from slipping down. If yours has a bronze collar with set screws installed above the packing gland nut it’s a good idea to confirm the set screws are tight and the shaft has been dimpled to receive t...

Re: A tale of two anti-siphon vents

Hey PDQfan,

Yes very important to monitor the output on the vented loops, especially after lay up or not running the engines for a while, nice catch. I would guess that the modification was done after delivery and not at the factory.

Re: battery hatch seal and engine hatch seal

Hey Carl,

Measure the existing foam and contact a local supplier or Mr. google. Request medium density closed cell PSA foam (pressure sensitive adhesive). Remove the old adhesive from the hatch with some acetone, let dry, and apply the new foam.

Hope this helps

Re: Weema water tank guage

Hey John and Ria,

Removing the plastic tank inspection port should give good access to the sender. Cleaning the sender shaft and float should correct. Feet forward and hanging into the locker is best way for your flexible volunteer.

Hope all else is well

Re: anchor roller replacement?

Hey Roger,

If going after the bolt I replaced the original anchor locker hatch with the biggest one that would fit. Crawling in with out it installed give a little more room. Next step is to find a volunteer that will fit.

Re: Kobelt/Felstad Control Cables

Hey John, I use Felsted 47-34 cables, 47 series and 34 foot length. Not sure if the lengths changed over the years, but there should be identification markings at one end of the cables to confirm. Fishing one cable thru at a time with the original is easier and helps with not mixing anything up. The...

Re: High Water Bilge Alarm

High water bilge alarms were not installed at the factory so not sure of the location. I would guess somewhere in or aft of the engine compartment.

If removing Yanmar's v belts and installing a serpentine belt might want to look into installing a belt tensioning pulley.

Re: tach guages

The rpm sender has 2 wires attached to it and is mounted on the flywheel housing at about the 10:00 position when looking forward. If the alternator has been replaced it may also have an rpm output wire.

I had to crawl into the chain locker to tighten the mount bolts once, not easy. The 2 year old sounds promising.

Hey Mike,
Are you after the cables from upper to lower helm, or lower helm to engines?
