Re: NEED TO RUN NEW AC PIPING TO CABINS :-(

Hey Ross, where was the split in the high pressure line? Did it have anything to do with standing water in the chace? Good luck in the recharge. James

Re: Scupper for fwd lockers

Hey Phil, I double checked and they are the west marine skew / part numbers. If still no joy, look them up in the index under clamshell vents. There are a few different styles and sizes to choose from. James

Re: NEED TO RUN NEW AC PIPING TO CABINS :-(

Hey Ross, there are no bulkheads installed in the stiffening ribs, it should be a straight shot. After removal, inspecting the lines for damage is a good idea since finding and fixing the leak can be a challenge. James

Re: Scupper for fwd lockers

Hey Bob, the original fiberglass scoops/clam shells were made in house at PDQ. Tracking down the moulds might be tough. West Marine sells clam shells in stainless (# 226522)and PVC (# 183384) that can be used as replacements. James

Re: Lowering the mast

Hey David, I have to agree, its a tricky manuver with a chance of dropping the stick. The rig wasnt designed for this ( no tabernackle or second gooseneck ) and you have to watch a lot of things, is the mast going to jump its base plate when at angle, the mast has to be kept in column when lowered s...

Re: Sealing the skin around minor hardware additions

Yes its the same for cored or solid. The outer skins on the cored deck and hulls has a layer of mat and tri axle so there is some thickness to it.The countersink doesn't have to be very deep. If there is core at the location its probably 1/2" so watch your screw length. James

Re: Refinishing Flooring

It depends on the condition of the floor, dings, gouges, water stains,etc.. if its worth refinishing or replacing it. One option is if the floor is still structurly sound, prep it and cover it with a sheet of 1/4" teak and holly. This saves ripping up the old floor and a few bucks. Almost all o...

Re: Sealing the skin around minor hardware additions

When mounting deck hardware its a good idea to countersink the holes to allow the sealant to create an O ring seal around the fastner. The countersinking also prevents the gelcoat from cracking when screwing into it. Give the area a wipe with acitone to remove contaminates and your ready to goop. 3M...

Re: oven without cooktop

Hey Tim, one of the workers from PDQ picked up a new in the box stove at one of the companies garage sales. If memory serves, it was for a 32. If interested, let me know and I can put you in contact with him. James

Hi all. Jackie and I are in the process of organizing our yearly trip south for the winter. For those who don’t know us, I was with PDQ for 15 years. This gave me the opportunity to work on everything from mould making, boat assembly, launch, commissioning, PDQ U, flotillas and 8 years as the PDQ ro...
