Propane System and Excel H2O Heater
The propane system on this boat was moved out of the port rudder compartment and into a dock box mounted on the rear cockpit seat. Although I'd like to recover that luxurious real estate, that is not necessary at the moment. So, the propane tank, regulator, solenoid, and gauge live in the dock box o...

Waste Holding Tank
The holding tank on this Capella is glassed in aft of the shower and fore of the starboard rudder compartment. Two issues: We need a way to measure the contents. Has anyone been able to use the Scad system for this purpose? I'm thinking of using Scad for the water tank and may install on the compart...

Re: Sawhorse for Outboards
I checked out fender boards. Easy, useful, and the dimensions should be compatible. My home sawhorse had the 4x6 header for added strength for the wintering slog. I'm thinking plain old dimensional pine lumber will do the trick. It helps keep your waterline high for lightwind sailing too! Now, back ...

Re: Sawhorse for Outboards
Thanks Terry. Along that line, does it matter if it is treated lumber? I haven't done any thinking or research about fender-boards. The sawhorse I used previously held two outboards in the shed over the winter. A new one would have to be long enough to hold the long-shaft Yammies. Ideally, I would l...

Sawhorse for Outboards
Does anyone have a sawhorse setup that they are extremely proud of? I'm getting ready to pull my Yammies and wondered about the most practical height of a sawhorse to mount the engine on while working in the cockpit. Does it sport polished stainless hinges? Do the legs have a secondary(or primary) u...

Re: Resealing Large Salon Windows
I redid the leaking center port side window last weekend. So far, so good. I did remove the inside trim first. The previous sealing job had spooged adhesive all over the inside trim, so the trim didn't come off easy (like it should have). The adhesive on one end (the massive leaking end) just popped...

Re: Job Report: Rebedding wraparound windows
The reason I ask that last question regarding the sealing of the screws is one salon window was replaced just prior to purchase 3 months ago. It leaks like a sieve. It leaks around the screws and the adhesive on the perimeter. I'm assuming a poor job was done. I'd like to do a better job than that. ...

Thanks for the details.
Are the screw holes sealed by the Sika 295 or are they sealed with something else?

Thanks B,
I'll guard the non-skid.
1/2 inch thick? Wow!
Is there a spacer around every screw? Could there be spacers not on a screw?

Re: Job Report: Rebedding wraparound windows
Hi Gents, It has been a while since you posted this. Is there anything different you might add to the successful completion of this job? I will probably do the port side before I attempt the starboard side. So, a case of sika 295 should do me for that. If I'm careful, I should have leftovers for the...

Re: Sliding Door Removal For Maintenance
Thanks James. Okay, the retainer channel did require a bit of persuasion (and WD-40) to free it from the sill plate channel. It does move around freely. It appears that the retainer channel is about a one inch 'U' channel. There is about a half inch of space between the raised lip of the battery box...

Re: Sliding Door Removal For Maintenance
Bumpage! I've seen the 'slather it in slippery goo' posts. I'd prefer to take it apart, clean it, and put it back together again for many years of use. Yo, engineers(and other crafty tinkerers)!! Come on, help a brother out! I think my idea of carefully cutting the retainer channel in about half (I ...

Resealing Large Salon Windows
The pleasure of your reply is requested! This new to me 2000 36 Classic requires the large lexan windows to be resealed. Derived from posts on this forum, Sikaflex 295 UV and primer is the proper adhesive for this job. I have looked, but could not find, a play-by-play for this task. I have found tha...
