Re: Source for crossbeam??
Mine is the 2000 version. I'm not sure what differences they have, if any. For now, I'm going to live with it. Off Shore Spars is a source for replacement, when the time comes. At some point, someone will come along that has a similar issue and another solution. Meanwhile, one of these days I'll inj...

Re: Refrigerator Door Seal
Hi Mark, I'm in Corpus Christi, TX on the western end of the GoM. I'm interested in ideas that work, so I'll add yours into the mix. I'm hoping to hear from a few folks that have the new-fangled built-in fridge too. Corpus has a pretty good industrial supply infrastructure. I dropped into a gasket p...

Refrigerator Door Seal
The upright built-in fridge is only chilling down to 40 deg f. High temps between 3pm until 7pm hover around 50. We have a new compressor and the system is fully charged. The evap/freezer will freeze water bottles solid, but ice cream is more like soft-serve (still tasty....H-D rum raisin...yum!!) T...

Sliding Door Removal For Maintenance
I would like to remove the sliding door to perform needed maintenance. One roller appears to be seized. It is otherwise extremely funky in all the channels. According to the schematics posted on PDQ36.com, the retainer channel on the cockpit side of the sill plate is designed to be easily removed to...

Re: Alternative make of outboard for Altair 32
My boat, 2000 PDQ36, has Yamaha high thrust 4stroke 8s. There is at least one other 36 with the 8s installed. It does not appear that the engine compartment needs any mods to accommodate the 8s. They move the boat adequately. They would probably support the PDQ32.

As I peel the layers off my new (to me) boat, I'm looking forward to the support from this forum.

Source for crossbeam??
Dear PDQ Forum,
I hear, on good authority, that there may be a source for purchasing parts, like a PDQ36 crossbeam, acquired when the Whitby operation folded.
Does anyone know this source?
Does anyone know how much a crossbeam costs?
Please!?! and Thank you!

Re: Possible Delamination Found-Myth BUSTED!
Hi! Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite an owner yet though. The due diligence thing is a black hole, but necessary. For example, while I was in a tizzy over this huge rectangle, I spotted and shot the pic of the corroded hole in the crossbeam. Then I pigeon-holed the crossbeam issue while I was try...

Re: Crossbeam Corrosion
UPDATE: The yard says other corrosion across the beam negates the utility of welded repairs. Replacement is the only meaningful choice. However, the yard did think it would last a while before replacement was mandatory. We will not begin the cruise for at least two years. No better pix at the moment...

Crossbeam Corrosion
On this 2000 Capella Classic, there is a hole on the port side of the crossbeam near the bottom seam and the end flange weld. It is about fingertip(half inch diameter) width. There are no electrical wires or fixtures in the area at this time. The nav lights are up on the cabin walls. There was an el...

Re: Possible Delamination Found
Unfortunately, I won't have the results documented by the surveyor until Tuesday. This is what I remember from our discussion. There are no cracks. There is no evidence of a repair in this area. The difference between tapping outside the marked area and inside was like the difference between concret...

Here are the same pix resized. The high res of the previous pix is probably not needed.
