Re: Dinghy davits dimensions?

The government site doesn't seem to distinguish http://www.energy.gov/taxbreaks.htm so I guess I'll get the info from the tax accountant when I sit with him. I mentioned it as an aside during a conversation and he didn't object. Maybe he wasn't paying full attention.

Re: Gasoline tank sending unit

This is the same company I bought mine from and it's great. It really gives you a good span from full to empty unlike he float type that stays full forever and then dives for empty.

Re: Dinghy davits dimensions?

Just wanted to chime in here. There is a difference in OD between tubing and pipe so if you happen to get pipe it may not fit your deck socket. I would still put the brace in as it is cheap while being fabricated but expensive to straighten the davit and then weld it in after the fact. I may be havi...

Re: Poll owners on their Fridge Capacity

I guess you have a different setup as mine has no trim. Does it look like the trim used on the hard bimini? If so McMaster carries that also.

Re: Poll owners on their Fridge Capacity

I have used 1/2" x 1" foam gasket from McMaster-Carr. It comes in white so it doesn't look bad. I purchased through Harbor Freight a set of charging gauges and a vacuum pump. I suspected a leak as the compressor never shut off. I've drawn the unit down and recharge with 6.5 oz of 134a and ...

Re: Water in port rudder compartment

Essentially if you can picture a cross section with the bottom of the hull and a parallel plane which would be the surfaced you see when you open the lazarette the rudder post passes through a fiberglass tube that is bonded to the two parallel planes. Now visualize the rudder hanging down and apply ...

Re: Water in port rudder compartment

I had replied in a PM but thought I'd share my comments. I've owned two LRC models. The first had Volvo saildrives and the rudders were not protected by a skeg. The present one(for sale) has yanmars with skeg protected rudders. The first boat had a bent rudder shaft which I had to pull and repair. M...

I won't know for sure until late May (20 degrees here today) but Progressive did research it and confirmed the color match.

gelcoat update

I wanted to touch up a few dings on my hull so I bit the bullet and chased some down. I think it was Knotty Kat that listed the color info. Salwa provided the supplier info and I pulled out the credit card. For anyone interested here is the info: Progress Plastics & Compounds, Mississauga, ON, C...

Re: Yanmar zincs

Just an update. I got Yanmar's ear on this subject and got a response to the problem. I don't know if this will be the final answer but it at least explains one scenario. "I have found the 196420-02640 is for the original SD-20 Saildrive. Since then there have been several output shaft changes....

Re: chart plotter

Presently the boat is equipped with an old Garmin 75 at the helm. I'm running The Capn with a choice of either a Deluo cube gps or my Garmin 12XL on my laptop. I was contemplating replacing the 75 but looking at prices for chartplotters I think I'd be better off buying a second laptop for 1/2 the pr...
