The rudders on this boat appear to be foam cored. No water leaked out. I will see if it is still possible to fair the tails of the keel if tha is all that is needed. Have to check,
Thanks for the suggestions, Marc

Corroded holding tank access plate
The eight inch square aluminum plate through which the plumbing for the holding tank runs has a major problem. A brass or bronze elbow was installed for the inlet. I discovered yesterday, that around the yellow metal elbow, the aluminum plate has corroded right through. (see picture) I have made an ...

Re: Need help with repair of water in keel of a 36
The alcohol idea is interesting. The effected keel, only one had the problem which seems to have stemmed from a few large blisters in the keel, is now dry enough to glass. The Starboard keel was uneffected and had no blisters. As for fairing the keels, do you mean the hull keel joint? It appears to ...

Re: Anyone bolt their 9.9s to the motor mounts?
Dan, here are a couple of photos. This is a 1991 PDQ 36, the inboard sides of the motor wells are removable, gives good access to remove the lag screws when I want to pull the motor. The mount has a quarter inch sheet of rubber glued on both sides as well over the top. What I did was to drill and se...

Anyone bolt their 9.9s to the motor mounts?
My boat has a heavy rubber over the motor mounts and not matter how tight you make the mount it tilts up some in reverse. With a previous cat, I was able to fix the mount with a lag screw set in epoxy (put it in, pull the lag and soak the resulting hole with epoxy, grease the lag and put it back in ...

Re: Need help with repair of water in keel of a 36
Latest news, unless I come up wiht a different plan, we will drain the keel, give it a relatively brief dryout and reglass it. Intersting that we found a long dry void between the outer layer of glass and the next layer along the outboard bottom edge of the starboard keel. Toying with the idea of in...

Need help with repair of water in keel of a 36
Friends, Calling anyone with experince with a PDQ with water in the keels. Just hauled my 36 for bottom paint and what I hoped was some simple blister repair. The yard found that the Starboard keel had water in it and an old botched blister repair that might be the entry point of the water. No crack...

Mold makiing technique for hull and deck repairs
Friends, I recently dinged the bow of my 36 and made a mold of the Pt. bow area of damage to help with the repair of the Stbd bow. Here is the technique that I used to create the mold. it requires an undamaged section with the same camber as that of the damaged area. 1st, use blue tape to mark off a...

HELP NEEDED with Gel Coat
Friends, I clipped a dock and need to repair a crack in the gel coat of my 1991 Capella. Cracked the gel coat 8 inches up the bow stem. There are a few other areas that ought to be done as well, both mine and past owners. It is standard white, if there is such a thing for PDQs. Anyone know if there ...

Re: What is the best Freshwater prump for PDQs
Duane, thanks and you are right about pumps being so quiet. With a bad pressure switch, the Smart Sensor just ran til the breaker got thrown. Plus I think it over-pressurized the system. Marc

What is the best Freshwater prump for PDQs
I posted in the 36 forum but then I thought that this question might reach across types. My galley/head water pump failed, pressure switch failed and now the pump itself is leaking. Anybody have a suggestion for a good pump? It had a 2010 Shurflo Smart Sensor 5.7 which has a spotty reputation. I sus...

From Northern California but not in it. We have a 36 in Seattel if you get this way. There is another here too. Haven't seen any 32s. Marc

Best freshwater pump for a PDQ 36 house system
Friends, it appears the pressure switch on my 2010 Shurflo Smart Sensor 5.7 fresh water pump seems to have died. Pump does not stop running even when there is no leak to be found. The pump finally blows the breaker. And while I was cycling it to check for leaks, the pump body itself, which wasn't le...
