Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Hi folks, I have information on the 4 blade prop upgrade: We have been able to arrange a "quantity" purchase and therefor get a special discount on the props. For the owners with 100hp engines the new props would be Michigan 17X14 LH/RH 4 Blade DQX, Normal cost $746 each, our cost $594 plu...

Water filters on newer PDQ 34's

At one point (not sure what hull #) PDQ started installing a water filter between the water tank and the water pump. The purpose of this filter was to catch any large particullate matter that could foul the fresh water pump check valve. I'm sure many owners have just turned the filter setting to &qu...

Bottom Paint experiment

I did a little experiment this year with bottom paint. I put Micron EXTRA on one hull and the West Marine equivalent PCA Gold on the other hull.....after 11 months of cruising the West product has lasted longer (less paint loss) and is much cleaner in all respects....and for a lot less $$$$ Safe cru...

Re: Time for new House Batteries

Hi! Just for info...Trojan makes three 6V models a 105 AH, A 125AH and a 145 AH. All fit in the house battery compartment. The 145's give you almost a 50% increase in capacity....a nice upgrade for the cruiser that like to anchor out!!......and one more additional vote for solar panels, definitely t...

MV 34 - 4 blade props

Hi Folks! Yesterday I had the most facinating experience on a PDQ 34 in a LONG time. I took Harvey Griggs' new boat (has the 100 hp) out for a sea trial on the St Lucie River. Harveys boat has the new 4 blade props and what a difference !!!! It is the most remarkable improvement in the PDQ I have se...

Re: Stuart FL - Southpoint Anchorage

Hi Folks, Just a quick update on Stuart Facilities...The new SUNSET HARBOR marina (with moorings) is now open. Certainly one of the nicest facilities in southern FL. Very reasonable prices and in walking distance of 30+ restaurants and everything else the cruiser may need. This is now a must stop fo...

Re: NEED TO RUN NEW AC PIPING TO CABINS :-(

Hi Ross,
Just a suggestion....be sure it is reall the line and not the fitting right by the aft units. We had several problems with the fittings they used but I can't imagine the line actually failing.

Re: Spray deflector

Hi! Just noticed your posting on the spray rails. I have a set that I purchased from PDQ Canada to have "just in case". We paid $428.00 for the set and you can have them for $400 plus shipping. The company did change the length of the rails a little at some point, yours may not be an exact...

Re: anchor

Hello Mary, If you have not already purchased another anchor, you may want to look at the new ROCNA anchor. It is just another variation of the Delta type, but with a few unique features that may make it a better all around anchor. As a test, I put one (ROCNA 20) on Heron and it has been 100% in abo...

Re: Hydralic Steering - Cogwheeling

Hi Tom, Based on your explanation of the symtons, it sure sounds like just air in the pump. Since each wheel is an independant pump, it sounds like you have air in both units. Air in the lower unit is very uncommon, but still possible. Start by loostening the filler cap at the lower unit and fuid sh...

Re: Port engine runs hotter than Starboard.

Hi Folks, Thi is my first contribution to the forum and hope to provide many more in the future. This engine overheating a somewhat common problem that has been traced to a specific Yanmar production line where they used a bad coolant when testing the engines. This bad coolant left a wax like coatin...
