Re: Replacing original solar panels

I intentionally left a substantial gap in the center because I liked walking down the center of the hard top and then dropping down on the after deck. Saves a lot of walking around. There isn't much sun under the boom anyway.

Re: fuel "burping"?

You might try a Clean Way Fuel Funnel. I've used one and it worked pretty well. Yup, that's my PDQ at the fuel dock. They come with a set of addapters, up to some big sizes. If it works for you, let us know! http://www.hopkins-carter.com/scclwayfufi.html https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Cnp76u3sJ0/WRCEot...

Re: removing/replacing stantion bases

Have you tried PB Blaster, long soak, followed by lots of heat? I believe they may be threaded into embedded aluminum plates, in which case you prospects are tough. I mapped out many of the plates on my boat with ultrasound, after trying to remove a few fittings. If that is the case, I'd be re-drill...

Re: Dry Storage

Slightly off topic, but perhaps of interest. Numbers always help me. I needed to move the keel blocks on my F-24 (~ 2000 pounds) to paint the bottom. It turns out that the keel blocks on a PDQ are on the bottom of the keel, small, and not worth worrying about, but on the F-24 they are large and in i...

Re: Dry Storage

John and I already talked, but I will repeat some of it here for the group. I've had my PDQ 32 out many times, blocked under the keels and with stands under the hulls, but without support under the bridge deck. However, it was never for more than a week, and it was never subject to snow load. I alwa...

My Book is Finally Out

I've published over 200 magazine articles and a handful of e-books, but this is my first book with a bricks and mortar publisher. I spent many hours on my PDQ paddling out with anchors, turning winches, and taking readings. Lots of scraping mud and recording distances. I've dispelled a few myths and...

Re: source for bow pulpits?

Curiously, quite a few did not. I think that was the original design. For the record,my Stiletto 27 and my F-24 have no railing. Obviously jacklines would do it, but yeah, pulpits are nice to have. However, with a little common sense, I don't think it is actually a safety item. There is really no re...

I think the pitch says "9 1/4", but it is difficult to read. They are all the same.

Re: Spare 9.9 HP Yamaha High Thust Props

11.5-inch diameter. I would be guessing at the pitch.

They are older, probably about 1997-2000.

As a spare it won't matter too much. I used these with 2012 engines and can't say that I noticed any difference.

Re: Replacing original solar panels

Yes, heat might be an issue in the tropics. It will reduce efficiency a few %. There are several solutions: * Mine is mounted on a 1/8" thick slider turtle, so little different than mounting on canvas. NOT a PDQ solution, but it was a part of my reasoning. * Many slip a layer of something corru...

Spare 9.9 HP Yamaha High Thust Props

I got these with some used engines some years ago and I'm cleaning out the workroom. Gotta make room for projects and Corsair stuff. They are used but functional. In my opinion every PDQ owner should carry a spare or two. Just ask how many have wound up a rope in a prop, spinning a prop. It's a 5-min...

Re: Replacing original solar panels

I've done well with Renology panels. Over 8 years and still going. I've also done well with semi-flexible panels from Chinese sources. I was planning to permanently install a bunch of these, but ended up selling the boat. However, one of them lives on with my F-24 and I am very happy with it. The ke...

It was always a little less than 2-gallons for my 32, so that sounds right.

Re: Replacing original solar panels

Standard sizes have changed. Additionally, I'm sure the original controller was PM rather than MPPT and thus is obsolete. This field has move far in the past decade. You probably just need to start over. Not a big deal. I consider the specific equipment I installed ~ 8 years ago obsolete in terms of...

Re: PDQ 36 Free Rudder

There is 36 on the hard in Deale MD missing a rudder. Next time I'm there I'll have to see who it is.

"To the Max," maybe?
