Re: yanmar exhaust elbow
when the elbow went on my last boat, with a Yanmar, or the westerbeke before it, I had a welding shop make 5 mild steel elbows using nipples and short sections of pipe to duplicate. The total cost was $200 for all 5. Replace every year, even before failure, and the build-up isn't bad at all. Keep th...

Re: lower case transmission oil change
Thanks for the suggestions. I would think pulling the engines, and making the change in the cockpit would be easier than pulling the lower units. It's just time consuming. My question really asks if the cavity that holds the lower unit oil is shaped more like an oval or a rectangle? If more like an ...

lower case transmission oil change
I've seen this topic in the past, but not specific to my question. Changing the lower case transmission oil without pulling the engines into the cockpit. The suggestions about running up on a bar and waiting for low tide works great, unless you're in an area with 1.5' tidal range in Florida. Does th...

Re: Transom Shower Replacement options
I also had access issues getting at my shower on the starboard steps via the lockers at the transom, until I figured out to go through the aft bulkhead in the berthing space. Pull the carpet covered plywood piece, and access is reasonable.

Re: PHRF rating for 32
All of the measurements submitted are in the attachment. In re-reading it, it appears the PHRF rating is 200, and not the previously stated numbers

Re: Bimini sliding sunroofs
What do you use to temporarily block the back end of the gutters? I do like the idea of the tee below the drain hole - leave it in place all the time and connect up when needed

Re: PHRF rating for 32
Attached is the PHRF rating for the PDQ 32 with standard equipment. It appears to fall between 228 and 234, depending on the type of race. I think I attached it correctly. If not, let me know.

PHRF rating for 32
I need to get a PHRF rating for the 32 for west coast florida. I searched all of the old threads on this topic, and it appears they're all over the place. I plan to start from scratch. Does anyone know the I and J measurements for the fore triangle for the short mast 32? thanks Bob Gruber island tim...

Windlass
I'm planning on installing a windlass, and considering the Lewmar Pro1000 horizontal unit. Anybody have any comments on this choice? On to another question - I want to be able to operate the windlass from both the bow and cockpit. I assume this could be accomplished with either a remote handheld uni...

As information, I did choose to buy a new Adler Barbour cold machine - air cooled - about $1200 from Defender. I also searched down the original gasket for the top loading ice boxes. It can be purchased from McMaster Carr - item no: 1 8507K54 Rubber Edge Trim 3/16" Inside Width, 3/8" Insid...

Re: Refrigeration
Thanks Terry, I assume water got in from the atmosphere when the tubing was originally connected? If so, how does one remove said water? I guess the 30 minute vacuum would do the trick. Adler Barbour now uses quick connect type couplings, I assume to reduce this from happening. bob Gruber Island Tim...

Refrigeration
I have an Adler Barbour cold machine. Had a technician over to refill the r-134 (I'm still a novice on refrigeration systems), and there is inconsistent flow through the evaporator, indicating a partial block. Sometimes you hear the refrigerant gurgling through, but most times not. It is not cooling...

Re: Handrails under the hard top
My previous boat (Allied Seawind II) had the handholds on deck and those below in the cabin mounted adjacent using the same bolt holes with a continuous bolts. Each hole did double duty. The handholds on the bimini top are probably too far outboard, but you could run the interior holds perpendicular...
