Drew,
I assume you'd go all the way to the top with through-bolts? That being the case, would you over-size the holes and fill in the wall with epoxy?
I've always found enough hand-holds as is with the bimini supports, bulkhead, and door frame.

counter of head sink
I've noticed several small cracks on the counter top of the head sink toward the forward end. I pulled out the cabinet to investigate and found the counter top is tabbed to the hull, and while the hull flexes, particularly in a heavy sea, the counter does not. This is causing these cracks. Has anyon...

Bimini top
As a follow- up topic to getting the main down quickly, crawing on the bimini top in rough weather with those two big sky lights is courting a step-through. I was thinking you only need about a 6" width, and same longitudinal length of sky light to view the the sails and top of mast. The extra ...

stack pack vs sail cover
I just returned from a trip down to Cancun from Tampa, and got to know what works and doesn't during the trip. One issue is getting the main down quickly, when necessary. My main doesn't drop freely when releasing the halyard. I have to go to the mast and pull it down. It falls betwen the lazy jacks...

Re: ATN Topclimber Static Line and Spare Halyard or Sheet
Interesting thread. I have both the mast climber (has slides put into the main track, and you climb up using feet in nylon loops) and also an ATN that came with the boat. If I have another person when going up, bosin's chair is my preferred method. I have tried the ATN mast climber once. I am in pre...

heaving to vs. sea anchor
I'm sailing down to Cancun in several months, and thinking of short-handed storm tactics. I've made this trip (about 4-5 days) twice in the past with my monohull ketch. If the weather got nasty, heaving-to was my preferred choice. I have not yet needed to try heaving-to with the PDQ in high winds, b...

Re: mold reduction
Thanks Drew - I'll go with formula B. I think next time I paint it, I'll mix a high level of Borax in the paint to leave a residue. It shouldn't leach out since the underside doesn't get rained on (much)

mold reduction
Last year I painted the underside of the hard-top bimini with a marine alkyd paint. I've noticed it accumulates mold on a regular basis requiring monthly cleaning. Either bleach or vinegar does the job, but was wondering if there existed some type of coating, such as a vanish, that I could paint ove...

Looks like the year is going by without us picking a date and location. Anyone have any thoughts? I'd still like a get-together.

Re: Insurance
Terry,
A huge thank you for the tip. I contacted them and now in the process of insuring with Seaworthy Insurance Co. Instead of my annual rate going from $1400 to $4200, it's now only going up to $1700 per year - same coverage as before.

Insurance
I recently relocated my PDQ 32 from Hilton Head SC to Bradenton, FL. I notified my insurance company of the move. My annual premiums are to be increased from $1400/year to $4200/year! This is obviously due to increased risk from 'named' storms. I am currently with Progressive, and have never had a c...

Re: Mainsail Advise II
My last boat was a ketch. I sailed often with jib and jigger (mizzen). I noticed more drive from the genoa than the mizzen, primarily from a lee helm. I made the mizzen loose-footed, and the lee helm was gone, speed increased, and balanced better. I'm a believer. Having said that, I still have my fo...

Re: Battery Draw
Sandy,
When you say remote temperature gauge, do you mean the ones where you point at the object, and get a reading, or something that's attached with a wire?
Thanks,
