Re: Posible PDQ Rendezvous West Coast Florida

Just last week I relocated my PDQ 32 from Hilton Head, SC to Bradenton,FL. Took about 10 days going through the canels at Pt St Lucie. I'd be interested in a rendezvous - are you thinking in the fall?

Re: routine maintenance

Thanks for the input thus far. I hope I never see the day where I have to pull the lower unit while in the water - I see little pieces everywhere going to the bottom. The new 9.9's have what is called a dual thrust propeller which directs the exhaust away from the prop. They claim a 60% increase in ...

Re: reefing lines

As information, I was successful with a 10' 1/2 dia pvc pipe with a 90 degree bracket screwed on to the end. It allowed me to easily pull the sheave car all the way to the back of the boom, where I could easily re-run the reefing line.

routine maintenance

The previous owner replaced the 9.9 Yamahas with 9.9 Hondas with hydraulic lifts. I decided to change the oil, filter, spark plugs, fuel filters, etc. It turns out I cannot access the spark plug on the port engine, or fuel/oil filters on the starboard engine without pulling out the engines. I cannot...

Re: Replacing self tacking jib with genoa

John, I have a 130% genoa that came with the boat. I ran it up the forestay several weeks ago to see how it would run. The problem I saw was the sheet would either have to run outside the stay, not allowing for close reaching, or inside the stay, not allowing for broad reaching without the sheet rub...

Re: Ice Box Lid

All good suggestions. Check the insulation, gasket, and cooling fluid. I'll do them in series to see what works. Thanks

Ice Box Lid

I have the top opeining ice box. The refrigeration unit runs contantly, although it keeps things cold, and works well. I was planning to replace the gasket, but the current one appears to be in good shape. I read on an earlier post where someone installed a flush hatch on the lid. This makes sense, ...

Re: reefing lines

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pull the end of the boom off this weekend, and see if I can fish it out.

reefing lines

I did something stupid this past weekend, which I'm sure none of you have done, but maybe have some advise, nonetheless. I was pulling on the reef line at the tack, and pulled the end of line at the end of the boom (clew end) into the boom. Is there a way to retrieve the line? Do I need to disassemb...

PHRF ratings

Does anyone know the PHRF ratings for the PDQ 32? This would be without genoa or spinaker.

Thanks,

Thanks for all of the advise Tom. Now that we're into fall, it might be a good spring project.

Re: air conditioning

tom,

Thanks for that advise. I was trying to figure out a way to do it with only one unit, but it appears two units would be better. I assume in both cases, the discharge water would go overboard, and not into the bilges? Would you use one pump for cooling water for both units?

Eric,

Thanks for the schematic. Unfortunately, the same plan will not work for a 32.

Anyone know the PHRF handicap rating for the PDQ 32? This is without genoa or spinaker. Doing my first race at Hilton Head next month.
