Re: Holding Tank Odor and Filters
I know that you said that your article was not about additives.....But, I had the same problem to the point it was uncomfortable to sit on the tramp. I read a book (Getting Rid of Boat Odors) and the reccomendation was for K. O. (Kills odor) and C.P. (Clean Potties) both by Raritan. I tried them and...

House Bank Batteries
I need to replace my house bank batteries. Does anyone have experience with any certain brand. I have tried the cheap ones (Walmart, Costco) with batteries only lasting 2 seasons so I am looking for better quality like Trojan or Rolls.

Re: Yanmar Replacement Diesels
We also have the 2GM20F engines and have just found out that I have a cracked piston that needs to be replace, I have 2100 hours on the engines. Everyone says that the Yanmars should be good for 10-15,000 hours.

Refrigerator
I just installed a new refrigerator since the old one died. I researched and picked a unit that is made by Engel and is sold in the US via Thetford/Norcold. Model # SCQT-4407. The power usage, based upon where you set the temperature is between 0.5 amps and 3.3 amps per hour which is a lot better th...

Re: Jabsco Head
I'm not sure of the Defender part number but I think that it is the only Raritan joker valve that they sell. The difference between the two is that the Jabsco has their three sided valve arrangement and the Raritan is just a two sided valve (duck bill). It just works.

Jabsco Head
For all of us with Jabsco heads who hate to change the Joker Valve again and again. I replaced my joker valve with the Raritan joker valve (exactly the same size) from Defender for $16.99. I did this over a year ago and have not had to change the joker valve since.

Refrigerator
I have the Alden-Barbour (sp?) refrigeration system and it has stopped working. There is power at the compressor but it is not running. The little thin tube that goes to the temperature control in the refrigerator is broken off right at the control. Any suggestions?

Re: Cabin and Head Door latches
This is going to sound very strange but it fixed the problem on my 32. Adjust the tension on the rigging and this will probably fix the problem. When my doors don't close properly I know that the tension needs to be adjusted.

Head Replacement
I am looking to replace the Jabsco head that can with the boat (Now 10 years old). I have replaced every part at some time except for the bowl. I am looking at Raritan electric macerating toilets. Re: hull noises
We get the same noises. It occurs when the waves are coming from a different angle then the wind. I "think" that it is the hull flexing but I'm not sure. We try to anchor where we don't have this problem.

Re: Holding tank questions
You also might try Kills Odor and Clean Potty (made by Raritan) and available at West Marine and other boating stores. I've been using their products for about two years (including a trip down the ICW) and we do not have any odors. The stuff seems to work realy well. I found out about ir from a revi...

Hot Water Heater Leak
I have the LRC with a built in hot water heater. The Whale pipe (cold water side) going in to the water heater has suddenly decided not to stay connected. When I reinsert the pipe it seems connected but after a while it comes out again. This causes about 10 gallons of water in the bilge. Is this cau...
