1991 PDQ 36 "page 83" back on the market

You will find her previous listing with a search of this forum. Her inventory is changing and work continues. She will get new windows and hatches, then floor boards and upholstery over the winter months, and the asking price will be $127,500. Make an offer before the work gets done and save the pri...

Re: How to Disable Top Lock?

Consider changing the tilt angle of the motor at the transom before cutting the hull. Build shim plate wedges to fit the transom inside and outside. Picture a tapered plate 3/8" tick at the top and 1/16" at the bottom. as wide as the mounting face of the engines, made of successive layers ...

Re: 1993 PDQ 36 for sale, Hull #26

What boat isn't for sale?
I've been having a great time sailing Siesta, our Chris White Atlantic 42, but she is definately for sale, and I would be back to fixing up Page 83 for the Caribbean. But I would be glad to talk to anyone who is serious. Heck, I'm glad to talk!

Re: Stern Extensions

I'm intrigued by your extensions. I think it would be fairly easy to "splash" your extensions (make molds over the existing extensions) and not run amiss with "the factory". Page 83, the World's Fattest PDQ36, needs them. I would be glad to come down and help. Then we can sell th...

Re: Torqeedo 4.0 electric outboards

Page 83 has a Westerbeke 5KW generator in what used to be a berth port hull aft. It weighs 700 pounds with the fuel tank, sound enclosure et al. It does not produce enough power to drive two torqedo 4.0 cruises. It cost $15000 installed eight years ago. There are newer and better gennies around, but...

Re: IPad Navigation

This has been a hot topic for the last two years on other forums like www.panbo.com , cruisersforum.com and the hull truth. My partner on Siesta used a plugin for his non-3g iPad very successfully outside cell phone range. I have both a Motorola Xoom and a Toshiba Thrive, using the Android Navionics...

Re: Prop anti-fouling

I watched a Captain spend days over doing the prop speed process on a big fishing machine; getting down to bare metal, getting them smooth, applying the primer, then the top coat. That was last year. This year he still has barnacles. Forgive me, but I have to point out that the best way to deal with...

Re: Most distance in 24 hours by PDQ 36

Let's divide this question into spectrums. There is the fun and safe, Don't spill the paella range [FSDSP], which slightly overlaps the exhilarating, we'll clean that up later range [EXCTL]. Next comes the strip the boat we're trophy bound range [SBWTB]. These are the voluntary spectra. Again there ...

Re: Fractional ownership of a MV 32 or MV 34

I am very glad to have beeen offered a partnership in Siesta, and want to recommend it to anyone whose pockets don't quite reach the purchase price.
But be warned, it's very much like a marriage.

Re: Electrical hazard under the port settee?

I bought a cheap usb clip on camera a couple years ago and use it (taped to a stick) to see places my tri-focal-impaired fat head won't go. This camera has a couple LEDs on it to terrify me with what lurks in the dark places on my fat, elderly PDQ 36. Not recommended for people who won't poke their ...

Re: Electrical hazard under the port settee?

Go to a Dollar store and get an appropropriately sized mini milk crate! You want to be able to smell the results if things start happening there.

As soon as I posted that I remembered: I ran the engines for a while on two separate portable tanks. DOH.

Re: 9.9 won't hold RPM

I found a small collection of "gummy bears" in one carburetor bowl and not the other and still can't understand how that happened. Soaking the carb parts in a gallon can of carb cleaner made it work fine until I replaced both engines.

Re: propane outboards

I know that local service trucks have been converted to burn propane. I would like to know more precisely what the equivalant consumption rates are between gasoline and propane.

This might appeal to the gasophobes out there; better one evil than two.
