Boom vang suggestions

Friends, my '91 Capella appears to have been rigged with preventers and I am changing over to a vang at the mast. Can the turning blocks on the cabin roof be used to run the vang line to the cockpit? Loads on a vang can be high. Using a Dyneema webbing strap around the base of the mast in leiu of dr...

Re: No exhaust through prop hub

Not sure what part you are talking about? As far as I can tell, the exhaust comes out of the manifold and mixes with the water that is injected into the leg, pushing it out of the leg. I have one of my coroded motors torn apart, I'll look at that. There is the "exhaust guide" that is used ...

No exhaust through prop hub

Just bought and installed two clean used model 6G8 Yamaha 9.9s. Both started right up but the first one only ran a few minutes the next time and wouldn't start there after. That is not the wierd thing. What is wierd is that there is no exhaust through the prop hub? Water was also not going into the ...

Re: Installing new engines and engine steering lock- tips?

I am in the process of replacing the engines on Honu with used motors. Both the old ones are salted badly. wanted to share the hoist I used that worked well and was easily disassembled into three 20170327_101417_resized.jpg 20170327_101320_resized.jpg 20170327_101312_resized.jpg major parts. Re: Weight and dimension of Hardtop

Thanks for all the ideas. I have used plexiglass on a boat project and found it surprisingly easy material. Made my own pilothouse windows. I've done foamglass frames but I'd like to keep this project simpler.

Re: Weight and dimension of Hardtop

Terry, thanks, I'll look into this or maybe using foam core panel, might be able to get a one piece panel from the folks that make truck box panels. Don't have a n existing Bimini so that will need to be part of the project as well. Marc

Weight and dimension of Hardtop

Looking at making a hardtop. Curious about the dimensions of those now in use. One material I could use is Durashield tongue and groove foam core panel. BUT it weighs a bit much. Total for the roof about 145 lbs, have to check this number. Thinking about dimension of about 12 ft by 7 t.

Friends, half way to replacing the engines. Found one lightly used trolling motor and now looking for the other. 9.9s are very common trolling units.

Re: Engine Locks Corroded

I have had some luck spraying penetrating cable lubricant up into the latch. Used canle lubricant because it is designed both to penetrate and lubricate. Needed several shots and workingthe lever. Not a permanent solution but can be repeated.

Re: Wierd corrosion on 9.9 leg.

A question, would scale disolve in fresh water when disrupted? The stuff inside the exhaust housing appeared to disolve when I dug it out and put water on it. At the Yamaha dealership, their explanation for this was design flaw in the hollow exhaust housing. A large space did not drain when the engi...

Re: wiring computer fans for refrigeration

Success, froze a glass of water. Installed 3 small 12V computer fans floor level blowing into the top half of the compressor. Will make a louvred cover for them. Each fan draws .33 amps. Marc
