Re: "emergency exit" hatches in berths
Try giving these folks a call. I have used them professionally to repair a number of hatches and portlights and I believe Lewmar uses them for their customer repairs. Good people and I'm sure would be willing to provide advice only if you want to do the repair or make the repair if you send them the...

Re: Powercats in the Keys
Hi Dave I don't know if you have heard, but Carol and Dick Tuschick and their daughter Beth Simkins, all from Rhumb Line, are organizing a PDQ powercat rendezvous in Stuart, FL on Saturday, January 28th. I believe they are hoping to asssemble PDQ owners with and without their boats and will be showi...

Re: Water into fwd port storage
Dick Tuschick shared with me a trick for solving this problem. Find a A/C or hot air furnace nylon filter and cut out a piece to fit into the air intake housing in the inside of the forward port storage area. Also make sure this area's drainage hole is not blocked. The filter nylon honeycomb allows ...

Re: fluxgate compass
I am on my 2nd replacement fluxgate and each cures the deviation problem. Mine is also located in the stbd side seat (each of them) so I suspect the issue is the compass not its location. Sorry.

Re: Plastic Strainer
The Groco plastic bowl strainers fit, with either a SS or plastic filter. These units are a disaster waiting to happen so make sure the filter sits fully down into the bowl to allow the plastic bowl to be fully tightened. I sometimes have taken a 1/16th of an inch off the filter to ensure this happe...

Re: impeller removal
Hi. I had no problem getting them - Mack Boring was my dealer's source and I think they sell direct - so they are out there under the new part number -42531. Of course this won't help with the spares already on board. Good luck

Re: impeller removal
See if this is helpful...from an earlier posting. Yanmar has introduced a new impellar removal tool (129671-92110) which works with a new impellar design (129670-42531). The new impellar has threads on the rear end of the center shaft into which the new removal tool can be threaded. An internal bolt...

Re: Racor Filters
I have used 2 micron for the last few years without incident. Just be prepared to change the 2 micron filter elements more frequently than the standard 100 hours depending on the quality of fuel you buy and the amount of crud in your tanks that gets stirred up by weather, etc. John Sawyer Katin 34/0...

Re: Flying a club burgee on a power cat!?!
It is interesting that we all seem to have arrived at differing solutions. I fly the burgee from the mast head, courtesy flag from the starboard 'spreader' and ensign from a wooden staff attached to the aft seat rail. Ensign flies above the dinghy in its davits and is a lot quieter than flying from ...

Re: toe rail, toe rail; who's got some toe rail?
Try contacting Pearson in RI. They had received some spare 12 foot pieces with the original PDQ molds shipment and I purchased one about, must have been at least 18 months ago. My contact there was Mark Dauplaise, Service Manager, 401-247-1050 but I have no idea if he is still there. The crew at Rhu...

Re: engine overheating (cont)
For the 3 years I have enjoyed Katlin, the stbd engine (I have 75s) water temp has indicated about 80 degrees C while the port, even with the FW heater attatched, indicated temps in the low 60s. These readings were with RPMs in the 3000 to 3200 range. Both engines had reasonable water flow through t...
