Re: Generator Area Silver Sound Insulation
Hey Sailkane, The original sound insulation we used at the factory was Soundown. I have replaced the insulation on a few boats and it is a bit time consuming, but looks great when done. A few tips: 1 remove and use the originals as a patterns if possible 2 a vacuum helps remove dust and acetone with...

Re: Question about tabbing under bulkhead between berths
The bridge deck in the cabin area should be firmly tabbed to the 2 plywood bulkheads. If not the bridge deck will oil can as you mentioned and cause some serious damage. I repaired this issue on a 36 years ago while with PDQ. We used epoxy for the repair as it has better penetration and adhesion to ...

Re: Cost to repaint?
The cost of repainting the deck of a 34 would depend on the quality of the work and how the job is preformed. Will the deck hardware be removed and reinstalled with propper bedding, or just taped off? What method of non skid will be used for good service and looks? Will the substrate be prepped prop...

Re: PDQ 36 mainsail dacron weight?
As far as cloth weight, if the sail is original give Triton sails in Toronto a call. They would have made them.

If memory serves, we used simple floor drain covers. Have a look at Home Depot or Lowes.

Re: expansion tank?
I've installed a few expansion tanks of that size on the hot side and found that the pressure valve can occasionally weep. A 2 gallon unit would work better. On a side note, the factory installed check valves to alleviate heating the water in the cold side, and also to protect the heater element fro...

Re: expansion tank?
At the factory we did not install expansion tanks on the boats. The early ones had a simple pressure pump ( that could rapidly cycle depending on flow rate) and the later boats had a variable speed pump that in theory negated an expansion tank. As mentioned the the pressure relief valve will vent as...

Re: Fuel tank leakage
Hey Mark, Drilling holes into the fuel tank compartment sounds scary. To remove diesel fuel in the tank compartment in the past I have removed the fiberglass fairings that are glues to the bulkheads and the top of the tank at the forward and aft ends. This allows access to the cavity between the bul...

Re: Remove Mainsail
Hey Jim, Looks like you have a Tides Marine "Strong" main sail track. As Dan said the slides should come out of the track at the bottom. No need to remove each slide from the sail. If memory serves, there was a pin thru the bottom of the track that when removed allowed the slides to slide ...

Re: Fuel Tank Pickups
Also, there is no sealant at the tube to tank fitting joint, just a pressure fit. When screwing the aluminum 90 elbow into the tank boss, use diesel grade pipe dope to prevent galling. The manufacturer may have additional suggestions as well.

Re: Fuel Tank Pickups
Hey Larry, From discoloration it looks like the pick up tube has seen better days. It wouldn't be a surprise if the gasoline of today has attacked the plastic. If you look at the top of the tank there is a plaque with the particulars of the tank, as well as the name of the company that manufactured ...

Re: bow running lights
Yes I was with PDQ for 16 years, and my wife Jackie and I would travel around handling warranty, moving boats around, and working boat shows. We still spend our winters in Florida helping out with the fleet.
Glad to help out.
