Re: Heating
We installed heaters on a couple of mv34's. They used engine coolant as a heat source that was piped to a small " radiator" with a built in fan. Another alternative are the propane heaters, force 10, dickinson, sig marine, espar etc.. Hope this helps. James

Re: 36' LRC gelcoat cracking under bridgedeck
Hey guys, I have seen an assortment of irregularities in the bridge deck area over the years. Some of it was from modifying the mould, some from mould maintenance etc.. Since the bridge deck surface is not seen very often, not as much time was spent maintaining the moulds in that area. From what I c...

Re: Extending stateroom.
Hey Phil, as Sandy says, Wow. I'm guessing that you have a self tacking jib on the starboard and a and Screecher to port on the forestay. I noticed that you still have the 2 lower aft stays. Does the mast pump ? Its nice to see new ideas. I have twin forestays on my trimaran, and love it. Hope to se...

Hey Sandy,
We met many moons ago at Chesapeake Catamaran Center. Let me know where and when the get together is.
P.S, I enjoy reading your responses on the forum. James

Re: Princess two burner stove issues
Hey tom, in the past we have seen a " mystery oil " contaminating the lpg system. The symptoms are as you described. If it is the oil, you can usually find evidence of it in the solenoid. James

Hey Phil, I missed the construction of your boat at PDQ by a couple of months. I'd love to see some pics. Where does your baby stay attach. James

Re: hull noises
H i Henry, check and see if the squeak is coming from the aluminum cabin door frames. In the past we have seen these frames squeaking on the fiberglass bulkhead. If its the culprit, let me know. Ive got a quick fix. James

Re: Straightening a bent rudder post.
There is no real advantage of adding aluminum or stainless to the mix. An all glass skeg can be made as strong , lighter and not have to worry about corrosion. After a collision, if seawater seeps into the skeg, it turns stagnant and becomes very corrosive. Page 83 brings up a good point, skegged ru...

Re: Straightening a bent rudder post.
Hey Dan, the mould for the skegs, and for that matter all the PDQ 36 moulds were demolished and turned into land fill a couple years back. Not sure why. New skegs can be built from scratch but I don't remember if the 36 used the same rudders for skeg mounting and a free standing balanced? James

Re: salon window trim update
Hi Bob, when you milled up the new trim, did you keep the same dimensions? The Starboard that PDQ used was machined with a thin cross section to allow for pliability. Are the fastners used to secure it over torqued? James

Re: READ THIS TODAY-It may save you an engine!
A routine check that should be done after getting under way is a walk around the boat. Some of the things to eyeball are, fenders and lines stored, hatches dogged down, anchor secured, ports closed, ect..... I was taught this 30 years ago and its saved my bacon numerous times. Another thing to check...

Re: Hot Water Heater Leak
When working with whale fittings there are a few things to watch out for. Before inserting the tube, make sure the end is cut square, and there are no gouges or damage to the tube. Mark the tube 1 1/8" from the end and make sure its pushed into the line. This is the most common problem. Good lu...

I worked on a 36 PDQ at hurricane boat yard and would NEVER recomend this yard. Jarret bay boatworks, just north of Beaufort N.C. is a good yard. James

The only " express cruiser " that PDQ made was hull # 97. Dagger boards, tall rig, and real light, a cool boat. Word on the dock was it might come up for sale. James

Re: sourcing replacement parts
Hi Rick, you can call Sebastien Baril with Metaux produit at 819-533-3222. They were supplying PDQ with a lot of the stainless work, and are very helpfull at replacement parts. If the lights are getting hot enough to melt the lens, you might want to check the wattage of the bulbs or go to a diffrent...
