Re: PDQ OWNERS GET TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS ?

All, Looks like the weather is going to cooperate next weekend - partly cloudy but 76 degrees (a distant cry from this weekend). We'll have the grill fired up around 6pm and hopefully the weather will hold so we can enjoy the view from the deck. If you plan on coming by boat let me know by private m...

Re: "Buggy" Fuel Problem

Well finally got around to getting our engine running... When I opened the first filter in line - it was full of black goo - luckily the blockage was ahead of the Yanmar filters. To be safe I rigged up a 3 gal outboard tank (with fresh fuel) to the existing system with new filters of course. So now ...

Re: PDQ OWNERS GET TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS ?

No problem,

My family is from Pointe-au-Pic, Charlevoix (c'est pas de problem, les autres Quebecois sont bien venue a' chez nous). Most of the group are pretty knowledgeable on the various years and models.

Re: PDQ OWNERS GET TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS ?

All, For anyone coming by water Selby Bay is a fairly popular anchorage, it is the second bay on the South side of the South River, Turkey Point forms the East shore of Selby Bay. Most boats will drop the hook on the Selby side of the spit that divides Selby Bay from the South River. Entering the ba...

Re: Just bought a PDQ 32 Altair (Hull 32-029)

Welcome aboard, I've done a little sailing up there, loved the trip up the Delta (always wanted to get to Suison bay but never made it). Really enjoyed anchoring out by Margaritaville in Sausalito, and the trip across the potato patch and down to Monterey and Santa Cruz. Lots of info and good folks ...

Re: Roll Call: how well did you survive Irene

Sandy, Both house and boat did OK - Thomas Pt. Light reported 65Kt + winds Saturday night (Selby Bay seems to funnel those gusts). Our second story deck is attached to the house but the ends just set on the roof, on a few of the heavier gusts we heard it lightly clunk on the roof (glad Irene arrived...

Irene: Tracking Info

Here's a pretty good website to track the storm. http://www.stormpulse.com/atlantic Hopefully this one will brush by us, but anyone in the Chesapeake area should take notice - Isabelle was only a tropical storm when it passed by - it was the storm surge that did the damage. I spent the night aboard ...

Ah... the "usual suspects..."

I've got a call into Jimmy Buffet to support the event (so far he hasn't returned my call... :? )

Re: PDQ OWNERS GET TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS ?

Save the date: Sunday Oct. 9th after the boat show Linda and I have been in touch with Eric & Bonnie and we've decided that we can do something at our house in Edgewater - with Monday being a holiday it's not a school night for us. We are located on Selby Bay off the South River, easily accessib...

Re: Zincs - sheered bolts off (Fixed :) )

The only downside is a slight disturbance in the water flow across the fin - probably won't be noticeable. When was the last time you got ZTC on a plane? if it were for your dinghy, where every little bit counts, you might want to have a solution that is a little more aerodynamic. The little tab on ...

Re: Inverter Charger selection

I knew I had read about this technology - but couldn't remember the details - really seems like a natural evolution for marine inverters. As for big loads we've managed to keep our 36 to 30A shore power and rarely exceed a 20A load - and we've been living aboard 4 days a week for the last 5 years. B...

Re: Inverter Charger selection

Just curious - we have a standard 3 bank charger and I'd like to go to a Charger inverter setup - I saw an article about newer "smart" inverters that could pull a startup load off the battery bank to compensate for an undersized power supply. For example running a 16,000 BTU AC unit from a...

Check out this website: If you haven't already - http://www.zerotocruising.com They took it a step further and are now on their big adventure - the blog is exactly like the name... and Mike and Rebecca are great folks... FYI: My wife wanted to live aboard 20 or so years ago and bought a little house...
