Hi Roger, I use two 4D gell cells (West Marine by Penn). One installed 1995 and the other in 1997. Still going strong (knock on wood) but I am careful to never overcharge over 14.2V or take them below about 50%. I usually run them in parallel all the time for a combined capacity of 360AH. When they ...

Ed You should carry a spare. Sooner or later you WILL need it. The hubs slip when the props get old or you tangle with a crab pot and the engine becomes useless. I have found it almost as expensive to have them re-hubbed as purchase new. Hi Marc Since you have the P/N you must have "been there,...

Why not just use an email address created for just that purpose? (To avoid spam into your primary address), such as hotmail or yahoo.

Greg,

I use the Garmin Bluecharts. Their Bahamas charts have the Explorer charts built-in which are a MUST. Whatever you choose, make sure they include the Explorer charts or you will have no detail of the islands.

Sam,

I solved that same problem by replacing all the port lights with new Bomar units. Not a difficult job other than the cost.

Dan, I had some minor water intrusion through the stanchion fasteners. I also had major water intrusion from the starboard lazarette due to rainwater from the lazarette hatch accumulating at the bottom of the lazarette and seeping forward. Lastly I've had a pressure water leak which accumulated in t...

I'd like to know the history of this boat (previous damage, storms, etc). It sounds like major structural damage was incurred sometime.
Glad your ok,
What happened to the boat after you were rescued?

Ever since I installed Strikeshield on Allezcat several years ago, lightning has not come near the boat. Perhaps it has psychic powers? The copper rod atop the mast did disappear one night, I assume overboard. Sure glad it didn't impale anyone in the process! Guess I best order a new one. Chet Allez...

We insured with Allstate about 3 years ago. They were great on the hurricane Charley claim and the rates are very good but I don't know if they are still writing new boat policies.

Allezcat 36010 uses a 35 Delta with 140 ft of 5/16HT chain for primary. Backup is a 35 CQR with 40 ft of 3/8 chain and 200ft of rope. For soft mud or dinghy use we have a Fortress F23. Different strokes for different folks!!

Frozen tilt locks are a common problem on the 9.9 Yamaha. I have had some short term success using copius amounts of WD40 sprayed on the mechanism under the lock lever but the only real fix is to pull the engine, dissassemble, and lubricate the whole system (which can be a real challenge!) Good Luck...
