Re: Selden In-Boom Reefing
Thanks. I've got the reefing system working. I eventually found selden manuals online. I interpreted, measured, stewed some more, measured a few more times, and finally bought some rope from defender. I learned how to splice the braided rope and crafted some cute little eye splices to affix to the c...

Re: Wires in the mast
My mast has a raceway riveted to the forward radius. It runs from just above the step to behind the steaming/deck light fixture. When I ran the wiring for the new LED anchor light, I ran it through that raceway. The old wiring had chafed through at the masthead due to interference with the halyards ...

Re: Solar only arch
Very nice, Tom! Here's my bare nekkid setup. When you get a sec, could you PhotoShop your rig onto Cat's Meow? Lest you're wondering why my yacht lacks the aforementioned grenade launchers, did you not see my CG approved Defensive Offshore Guardian? Around these parts, he is the well-known 'Terror o...

Re: Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
The mainsail is made by Triton in Toronto. I'm guessing it is the original. The measurements I've taken are within the Selden limits. The book says the maximum reefing height for reef 2 is 'E-700'(actually interpolated since the B143 boom is not listed). The book further states that reef 1 should not...

Re: Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
Thanks Gents! Great advice as always. I'll measure a few dozen times today before placing my order. Two clarifications for those wandering into this thread: The PDQ36 Owner's Manual from the PDQ36.com site lists the mainsheet as 1/2" diameter and 80 ' long. The reference to measuring cringles w...

Re: Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
Eureka!! There are numbers engraved into the bottom of the mast and the mast end of the boom! Mine are: Mast: PDQ36 SMI D01-206-2681 H-952 Boom: PDQ32 36 Conv E: 4190 SMI B143 2682 1040 The numbers all probably mean something, and maybe somebody here knows what? But, I think the B143 is the mast ext...

Re: Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
I too agree that line size is important. That is why I asked the question in the first place. I measured the reef cringles today while getting beat to death in ten knots of wind. Exciting! They are about 5.5 and ten feet above the boom. I think the weather report was a little off. We were do...

Re: Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
Thanks TW! I didn't get a notification alerting me to your post. Do you know if the PDQ36 mainsail requires a thicker reefing line? A reply on M4Us from an owner with a Privilege 37 said he has 1/2"(12mm) Dyneema on his reefing setup? You suggested Samson XLS. I'm not preparing for an ocean cro...

Re: Bimini Dome Light Wiring
Got the lights working. I mistakenly thought all the wires entering a busbar, located on the back of the helm bulkhead, from the starboard side were hot coming from the main panel. This wire was feeding the bimini lights. I think there was a wire spliced into the old solar controller positive batter...

Tommie Boyieeeeee, Those are some sexy curves you've got on SV Doghouse!! I would go with the longitudinal option. Get em' all up there and shade the dingy too! Windage be damned!!! I would mount a pair of grenade launchers too! Have them pre-loaded with Willy Pete so you can first obscure you locat...

Helllllooooo Out There!!! Stack Pack???
Ladies and Gents!!! Okay, I've never gotten a response from a lady on this site, but there is hope! I believe these boats came standard with some kind of 'jiffy flaking system'. The ropes and pulleys for this gizmo were not with the boat when I got it. There are no "Owner's Manuals" either...

Single Line Reefing Line Dimensions
Hi all!
Can anybody tell me the lengths and diameter of the reefing lines? I see that there are four pieces needed from the drawing in the manual. There is no reference to the sizes though.
Thanks,
Joe Mc
