Re: lost 110 volts on the flybridge

Turned out to be a bad GFI at on the flybridge, buried on in front of the flybridge control panel. I would have thought that the electrical would have been a bot easier to get to on the Flybridge, I am considering relocating the box for easier access and a more water tight placement.

lost 110 volts on the flybridge

I have been having a problem with 110 vt. power to my ice maker on the fly bridge. The power seems to come and go. The Ice would melt and then the unit would power back on and the result is a block of ice. I had the nice folks from U-Line at the boat this morning and the end result is that there is ...

Satellite TV?

Has anyone installed Satellite TV on a 34? I get OK reception in and around the SF Bay, TV goes digital when we get any rocking. The thought of a small SAT dish is appealing, but not sure of the installation and the quality of the signal.

Any Thoughts?

To enclose or not to enclose?

Now that Vita Bella is on San Francisco Bay, I am thinking about adding a Fly Bridge enclosure. We have a fine Bimini and the added comfort of the enclosure is inviting, but want to know what the down sides are. Except for the added windage, is this a good option?

Re: saving fuel by going slow?

Vita Bella came up the Pacific Coast from San Diego to San Francisco Bay over the last 2 weeks. While on the way up, the boat was running between 15-18 knots, we needed to take advantage of a weather window, and the fuel burn rate was a little below 4.75 gallons per hour. The boat used 38.9 gallons ...

Re: Water Pressure & Smell Problem Fixed

Simon-

Nothing personal, I love the boat but this coupled with an engine that was not properly aligned, which chewed through 2 shaft seals, I am a mite bit frustrated. Since I am now the "warranty department", it is also becoming expensive.

Re: Shore Power Problems

Every power outlet in the Marina is equipped with a GFI. Most marinas are not so equipped. I had no troubles all down the East Coast, except in Dania Beach, Florida where the Boat detected a bad ground. The boat seems very happy with all lights green on the galvanic isolator and the "dock autho...

Re: Shore Power Problems

Jeff= I am told that the equipment on the boat related to the galvanic isolator sends a "message" back to the power source to check for reverse polarity and correct grounding. Before the GFI was changed to a 30ma unit, the equipment on the boat was fighting the GFI, and to protect the boat...

Water Pressure & Smell Problem Fixed

And you will not ever believe what caused the problem! Today, after I installed the 5th shur-flo water pump, without it helping, we opened the water tank inspection port. We reached into the tank to find a cardboard box, addressed to PDQ with two intake hoses in the packaging. I will say that the BR...

Re: Shore Power Problems

Thanks for the thoughts. It seems that my home marina has 2 types of GFI's. One trips at 5ma, and one at 30ma. It seems that the battle between the GFI & the galvanic Isolator tripped the 5ma units. The staff changed it to the 30ma unit and all is well. Unfortunately the Marina staff are not inc...

Shore Power Problems

Once into our Home Port Marina, upon hooking up my shore power cables, the GFI on the dock immediately kicked off. The Marina staff is thinking that the problem is on the boat, however I have not experienced this issue in all the miles we have put on the boat. The problem seems to be related to the ...

Re: Water pressure and the water filter

The boat is now at home on San Francisco Bay, but the water issue gets more weird. When the fresh water pump switch is on, the pump fills the head. The crew that brought the boat North had to station one member in the head while they ran the pump to wash dishes to avoid a overflow of the head. The n...

Re: Water pressure and the water filter

My problems continue. The pump has been replaced, the filter has ben replaced and we are still not able to get the pressure water system to work. the feed line at the tank was disconnected and a hose lined up with the line. The faucet was then turned on in the galley and water flowed into the sink. ...

Re: Water pressure and the water filter

Thanks for the reply, We are installing a 4th pump this afternoon, replacing the filter and hoping for the best. I fully intend to take the filter completely out once the boat gets to the Bay, we have some of the best water in the world and after a good flushing of the tank, and possibly replacing t...
