Transporting a Kayak on the PDQ...

Hello fellow PDQ'rs, I am considering purchase of a Kayak for exploration and play when not using the dinghy. How have others rigged and stowed the Kayak in board a PDQ. I have the MV-34 and am concerned about securing it on any of the side decks as this would block my visibility from the lower helm...

Bottom Paint Question

Hi all, my MV-34 is on the hard and this is the year for it's first replacement bottom coat. The boat was built in 2005. According to my PDQ build sheet, it was originally painted with Interprotect 2000 Barrier Coat and Pettit "Horizon" bottom paint. I boat mostly in the Chesapeake Bay and...

Jim, I am also not sure of your "priming" question. I also have the Northern Lights setup and I have had the occasional problem with debris getting into the tube on the rawwater side of the strainer. If you notice the thru hull valve is not really on the hull but at the liner. There is abo...

Correct Prop Size??

It appears that the 34 PC's had the possiblilty of more than one prop size / pitch and and that it can make a difference in the performance of the boat. I have Yanmar 75's on Mishigas and now that I am out of the water, my props numbers stamped on the props are "16L14 & 16R14". Does an...

Cap'n, I have tried several different items and have found a quality Zip Tie does it for me. I use one at 15' and two at 30"..Etc..... The zip ties seam to run through the anchor windless just fine. Perhaps once ot twice a season I replace them with fresh ones as needed and they are cheap!. Sor...

Hi Sharon, Did your heater develop a tank leak or did it just stop working. If the tank is leaking, then it will need to be replaced. If otherwise, the elements and thermostats can be replaced. I have the same heater (two years old) and surprised yours failed after only four years. I have seen some ...

PDQ 41 Sighted and Inspected...Heading south

The good people at Annapolis Sailyard gave my wife Heidi and I a sneak preview of the new 41. Hull #1 was on her way south and stopped by for a couple days and this allowed us to check her out. The new owners are very nice folks and even took a group of us out for a mini cruise on the Chesapeake. I ...

Small cracks around the aft chock.

Noticed the Starboard far aft chock has a hairline crack coming off the bolt area of this chock. The crack is on the fiberglass ledge just above the aft steps. Looked under the lip and noticed it is bolted thru but I don't see any backing plates on these. This may be a winter project but wondered if...

Mr. B, Check the power outlet on the side of the boat. I had a similar leak on the Starboard side and it was the gasket behind the power outlets.

Lubricating the Rear Door.

My aft door is in need of a bit of lubrication. What are you folks using on the track to do this? I would think a dry lube would be better but thought I'd let the group speak up.

I was aboard this weekend and again looked for numbers. Under the flybridge I found the tubing but could not find any numbers visible. Just black tubing. Not sure how often Teleflex printed the numbers on this tube but it's not on all the tube. Still waiting for PDQ to advise on how to proceed. Sand...

John, each tube batch has a unique id stamped on it. PDQ is not sure which boat has which batch but it appears that some boats have had the defective tubing installed. On a boat, they may have installed tube from several coils (batches) of tube with differenct id numbers so, each run may have a diff...

Teleflex Tubing Recall...

All PC34 owners with hull number 67 and up are suspect of having defective tubing on the steering systems and they can rupture, causing loss of rudder control. PDQ has sent us a bulletin with the "recalled" tube serial numbers but in looking for them, it is very difficult to read these num...

Chesapeake PDQ Rendezvous a great success!

Just wanted to report that the PDQ owners rendezvous was a blast. Hat's off to Jim Stalnaker for organizing this event. 5 boats were represented at the Tides Inn Resort on the Rappahannock River in Irvington Virginia. Scott Heckard with Annapolis Sailyard was also in attendance with goody bags for a...
