Re-Insurance

We finally have Insurance. State Farm wrote the policy. The downside is that we have very limited Bahamas coverage at this time. The upside is that it was relatively inexpensive.

FYI Brushes

I now have a source to have them made. Gulf Coast Marine Electric, 815 Buttonwood Dr, Ft. Myers Beach, 33931, 239-765-6600, Ray Howerton , can have them made by Helwig Carbon in Wisconsin. As of this date (9/26/2006) there is a minimum order of $60.00. Gulf Coast will repair the motor or send you di...

Tramps

Ed,

We have the vinyl coated product from Sunrise. Bought them 4 years ago while we were in Baltimore. So far we are very pleased with them.

Dry Lube

Try "Sailkote" dry lube, sold at marine stores. (There are a lot of other products out there too. Most are silicone based with a solvent that evaporates, and all are marked "dry lube" on the can.)

Dry Lube

As a former lubricants engineer, I concur 100%. Dry lube will work great and will not retain water, salt, or dirt. You probably should blow out the track with an airgun or air can before you lube, and an occasional cleaning ot the track with a rag & acetone will help also (make sure the acetone ...

Cost

I think it was about $3600, but that was 3 years ago, so I'm sure the costs have gone up. (Folks in Annapolis wanted over $8000 at that time). Call Mr. Conway, I'm sure he will give you a quote.

Insurance

Our carrier in Florida (St. Paul/Travelers) is dropping all coverage for boats over 10 years old, over $100,000 in value, or located in Florida. Since we live here year round, with the boat in our backyard, relocating it is not practical. Who is writing marine policies in Florida? Since we have a mo...

Dennis,

Sunrise made one for our 1994 LRC 3 years ago. Great job for us also.

Welcome Aboard,

You have just joined a great family of PDQ owners, and have bought a great boat.

E-mail me if you would like access to the Southwest Florida PDQ owners group on Yahoo. (I will need your e-mail address, since the forum is locked, and available only to owners.)

Under Table

We modified the floorboards under the table for greater storage. I don't recommend adding anymore weight aft in the LRC.

Bridge

Sam,

The width of a bridge is the dimension from side to side of the bridge itself, standing upon it (rail to rail). The dimension which you are thinking of is the span (or length) from one side of the canal to the other, and is far wider than 6 feet.

Okeechobee

Sam & Gina, We have done it twice. The railraod bridge is 49 feet (about 6 feet wide). Our antennas touch with a mast 47 feet above the water. The Lockmaster at the east side of the lake (Port Mayaca Lock) can tell you if the lake is at normal pool or if it is high. Be sure and call him before y...

Arch

We had an arch built in Deltaville, VA, designed for the PDQ (we have an LRC). Len Scharf, former owner of ANAGYRI knows the gentleman who built it: Conway Boat Building 804-693-4518
