Re: Kayaks
We use a double kayak (hard-shell, sit-in) on our PDQ 34, secured to the port rail amidship. At home we use sit-in singles, but carrying 2 on board is too much. The seats on the double adjust so it works fine with one aboard. Problem with a double sit-on (aka "sea-kayak") is that it doesn'...

Re: Water supply
The minor inconvenience of filling our tank every 5 days does not compare to the risk of an always on unlimited water supply.

Re: Bahamas customs fees
We cleared at Sunrise Marina near Freeport in Dec 2012 and was pleasantly surprised to pay $150 for our PDQ 34. Better than the $300 I was expecting. I guess not everyone got the memo.

Beer, wine, canned goods, and spare oil & anchor in stbd hull, - - paper goods and fenders in the port side works for us.
Im not sold on the benefit of moving the water heater. I'll keep the huge stbd storage.

Re: swapping out a bow roller?
Not sure of the mfgr of my bow roller. It has 3 bolts securing it to the deck. The front top has 3 holes on each side and the front bottom edges are flared out about 20 degrees. The 2"x3" shims are laid one on each side of the anchor shank, between the shank and the bow roller. I cut mine ...

Re: swapping out a bow roller?
I had a similar problem when I switched to a 20kg Manson anchor (looks identical to a Rocna but less expensive). I use a couple of shims, one on each side of the anchor shank inside the bow roller and it works like a champ. Used a couple of 2"x3" boards about 12" long and the anchor i...

Re: new owner with questions
The gaskets on our 2003 MV34 are slightly askew too. Been like that since we bought it 3+ years ago and no evidence of leaking.

Re: Opening forward hatch all the way for more air
One of the first things I did when buying our PDQ 34 #029 was to disconnect the latch and prop the center window open wide using a 2' (approx) stick, giving the window a slight downward slope when opened. The base of the stick is next to the windlass and have never had it slip. If you do this and op...

Installing a new sonar/fishfinder
I have a 2003 MV 34 hull #029. Looking for suggestions on where in the starboard hull to install a sonar transducer for a cable run up to the flybridge. I'll keep the original Raymarine depthfinder in the port hull and add the new chartplotter/sonar combo unit (Humminbird or Lowrance - - not sure ye...

I have the 75 hp Yanmars and may be ready to bite the bullet and upgrade to the 4-blade props - - any idea of the cost?

Re: Achoring in the Bahamas with a MV 34
Manson seems to be a Rocna knock off and it costs a lot less. I have a 20kg Manson with a 70' chain and I don't remember it not holding.

Re: Fuel transfer
When you are done transferring fuel from bow to stern, be sure to close the valves after turning off the transfer pump. I didn't do this and the fuel continued to siphon into the stern tank until the bow was empty. Had to follow the 'top-off' procedure described above to get the transfer pump primed...

The physics makes sense. I have 2 questions:
1. Who does the axial allignment ?
2. Must the boat be hauled ?
