Re: Convection oven and microwave combination

We found a great commercial caterer's portable convection oven that we have temporarily in the aft storage room. It runs off of the generator (Honda 2000i) and is perfect for anything from a small ham to baking cakes. Bonnie tested it with cookies and it did great. She can do 3 dozen at once. I was ...

Travel Items for 4th qtr PDQ Newsletter

Hi everyone travelling this autumn, or who travelled this summer. I am taking over editing the PDQ Newsletter and would like to get tales from summer travels, or itineraries for this autumn. We'd love to get photos and short stories. I hope to have a newsletter out by mid-late November for everyone....

Wild Ride in a PDQ 36

I thought this would be entertaining. It shows how a windy day can get too windy - and how great PDQ 36s are. On Saturday (9/25/08), the Chesapeake Bay was experiencing a strong southerly wind with rain showers. Gale warnings were issued. At the time I decided it was a good day to see what our new P...

Re: Quarterly Newsletter Revival

Hi Everyone; You can send photos and articles to me at eric@epstein.bz. Some ideas for topics, but by no means limited to, are: who has traveling plans this winter and where, Newly purchased boats, history or background on some aspect of PDQs, a maintenance tip specific to a PDQ, hot topics on the f...

Re: Hull #12 Possible Fresh Water Leak???

I have found lots of leaks/water sources in bilge. Here are a few I found that may help you. 1) AC drain pan spills and drains into starboard hull bilge(not an official leak). 2) Overflow hose from fresh water tank hits 3 way 'T' on bridge deck, one of the openings is open (formerly the AC?) 3) Wind...

Re: Who's in Annapolis for the boat show?

An idea would be to meet at the Antares 44 at 11am on Saturday. James Powers will be working on the 44 (hopefully at that time on Sat) as well. I don't know anyone up in this area except Sandy, and would like to meet other PDQ owners. Bonnie and I will be there. My cell phone is 703-362-2018. Eric

Re: Who's in Annapolis for the boat show?

Hi Sandy;
I will be there Thursday and perhaps Saturday. Bonnie and I would be happy to meet up. We have not had nearly the time on the boat we would have liked this summer. But she sure is a great boat!

Re: Ground Tackle

My PDQ 36 has the aluminum Delta (16lbs) from my old mono-hull and 100+ feet of chain. I have a 38lb Bruce as backup and a large fortress. Both have 35' of chain and 200' of rode. My experience with the Delta has always been good. In my mono-hull that 18lb Delta and 35' of chain held us, and another...

Re: Does Shallow Water Slow You Down?

Hi; A lot depends on current. Water can not be compressed, so moving water in shallow areas runs faster than deeper areas. If you have a 1kt tide (i.e. tide speed according to tide predictions by NOAA are for the normal navigation channels), in shallower water, the current from the tide will run fas...

Re: Looking for a PDQ 36

Thanks to being able to post this message on the PDQ Forum, I was able to purchase Desert Star (36049), a 1996 PDQ 36. This PDQ had previous names of Tooyoots, Amarula , and originally Dementia. It was probably the easiest purchase of a boat - or anything of high value for that matter - that I have ...

Thanks. Its sounds like 16000 is the right size. May I ask what mfg/model you installed and if you like it? Thanks again.

Convection oven and microwave combination

For a PDQ 36 with only a stove top (see attached photo), has anyone had experience with installing an electric oven microwave combo in the cabinet under the stove top?

Air Conditioner Sizing

For a PDQ 36 what is the ideal size AC unit? My thought is to have the smallest possible power draw on the genset, but still have enough BTU output to cool the boat on a hot day. As the boat never connects to shore power, the genset will be its sole power source. I have a 2KW genset at the moment, b...

Looking for a PDQ 36

I am looking for a PDQ 36 (outboard version). I have been looking at a couple on the PDQ.Com website, but thought I would also mention it here in case someone knows of one. I am located in Annapolis, MD. I have 35 years of sailing mono-hulls with a great deal of off-shore experience. I have only had...
