Re: Prop Rotation

Hi Mac,

Correct….Starboard prop is a right hand propeller, it turns clockwise looking from stern to the bow. Port is left hand rotation, ccw looking from stern to bow.

Thanks,
Doug

Re: Salon door stop

stop.jpg Hi Mac, I just ran this drill a week ago. Ours failed in the Bahamas.. I removed it and saw it was at least the second stop that failed (two holes in the door). I didn't like the self tapped screws since the door stop+fastener is in bending. My solution was a thru bolted piece of starboard...

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator

Hi fellow PDQ’ers- We replaced our NovaKool with the Isotherm CR200 in June 2022 and are glad we did. In early June we took a trip to the Abacos and the fridge wasn’t cooling very well (actually even the previous year it didn’t cool very well). Once we got back to Florida, the fridge stopped working...

Re: Collar Around Port Shaft - Can You Identify This ??

Mike, This is a guess and only a guess. It looks like there is some nylon line hanging on the outside of it. It is possible that it all started out as a line wrapped around the shaft and as the prop shaft spun while you were trying to get free, it may have heat up and melted and then cooled to a ha...

Re: Impeller or the whole pump? (If you have spares)

Duetto- I like the idea of allen cap screws, that would make it a lot easier! Next time I replace an impeller I am going to switch to them. The hex head bolts have a thin profile head and make it very difficult.

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator

Thanks Mac, I appreciate the advice! Measure twice and cut once :P

Can you comment on the performance of the CR200 versus the NovaKool? Hopefully we see some improvement!

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator

Mac- Our fridge quit last week, right after our trip to the Abacos. It was performing pretty crappy the whole trip and was on the replacement list anyways. We purchased ours from Marine Warehouse in Miami... about $2200, ouch! How much did you have to cut out to make it fit? Any other tips for the i...

Re: Impeller or the whole pump? (If you have spares)

We replace the impeller, no need for a new pump unless there are other issues. I find removing the alternator/generator helps a lot for access. You can reach around get to the impeller cover screws and pull the impeller out. Dont forget to turn off battery switch and combiner before removing generat...

Re: tach guages

In the analog system the error is likely due to the wiring lengths and/or tach gauges. The sensor outputs 127 pulses per revolution, pretty cut and dry, and is likely all or nothing at the sensor output location. It's downstream of that where the error occurs. The EMU-1 instructions state to mount t...

Re: tach guages

Yes, it is off of the flywheel. The + wire is orange, - wire is black. The output of the tach sensor is 127 pulses per revolution. My Yanmar tachs are so far off (port is 1000 rpm off on the port side flybridge!), I installed an Actisense EMU-1 NMEA engine monitor, and it works beautifully (project ...

Re: Exhaust System Failure - Check Yours!

Thanks for the heads up! Can you tell us the screw size/type/material and also the gasket part number. We are hull 102 so probably not far behind you. I took a look today and didnt see anything obvious but its all blind so no telling what lies beneath!

Thanks,
Doug
