Re: Hydraulic steering cylinder

I took the old cylinder off first, put new cylinder in place, then the lines off the old and on the new quick. did lose fluid, but very little. West Marine will get it for you, about $400.00. I toped of the top helm after all air was out of the new cylinder. The hydrolic pumps won't overflow if you ...

Re: Hydraulic steering cylinder

John, it was the starboard cylinder, but you can bleed the whole system by using the plastic fitting and hose that fits the helm, and a quart of fluid. you won't need mush, so have a container to put left over in. Skinny friends may be able to do port side by going over HWH, glad I didn't have to!!!!

100 HP dipstick

100 HP engine oil dipstick, I know I read somewhere how it is to be positioned, but can't find the info again. I get a large difference from one side of the dipstick ,and the other. I have switched to synthetic [Amsoil], and I'm not using oil, I just don't know which side to use.

Re: Hydraulic steering cylinder

To answere my own question, the cylinder can be changed with a new one, and can be bled at the lower helm be holding a quart of fluid above the pump and turning the wheel many times. If you take the new cylinder in/down/back with you it will be a one time trip. Don't forget to remember where the aut...

Hydraulic steering cylinder

Has anyone had to change a single steering cylinder. Can it just be installed, and bled with the helms, or is a pro with a vacuum machine necessary ? Roger & Mary "Teamwork"

anchor

Has anyone replaced the anchor that came with the 34? We anchor mostly in clean sandy bottoms and find that during a strong tide change we have trouble maintaining a good grip. Which kind and what size have you changed to...also, did you add more chain? Thanks, Mary & Roger

Re: RPM on 100 HP Yanmar

Simon, thanks, but all filters were changed about 60 hrs. ago, didn't fix the problem. I am waiting to get RPM measured with a external tach. Roger

RPM on 100 HP Yanmar

Has any one noticed any difference between engines rpm? We had our boat pulled, cleaned, props checked, & painted, thinking that would fix the problem of port engine 400 rpm less than starboard. No change!!! Just wondering if the tachometers/ sending units have given problems.

Holdling Tank Question

Hi...we are new owners of a 2005 PDQ and are having a problem with the holding tank. With only VERY minimal use (3-4 times) the tank shows full. When we turn on the macerator to pump out [off shore ] it runs for about 1 minute and the breaker shuts off. I'm not real sure about the position of the va...
