Re: tach guages
Mac, I think Doug's explanation covered your question but, I do not have traditional gauges on the flybridge. The oil, temp and tach data is fed into a page you set up on the chartplotter. I have both a separate page for engine data and a split page with engine data and a navigation map sharing on a...

Re: tach guages
Mac, When I replaced my old navigation system with a Raymarine system, I had the electronics guy install a Actisense EMU-1 also. It takes analog data and converts it to NEMA 2000 digital and can be sent to any NEMA 2000 compatible multi function display. My tachs work fine but I had them wired to th...

Re: Where to install a solar controller
Ours is an older solar system with no bluetooth. The controller and basic monitor are in the house battery compartment. Has worked fine for us. With bluetooth it would be great.

Re: Transducer Location(s)
Nick, When my my transducer had problems it was going in and out for a while then completely quit. A new transducer at the next haul-out fixed the problem. Mine is also under the refrigerator. I put a second, inexpensive depth finder with the transducer inside the hull under the floor in the head as...

Re: Exhaust System Failure - Check Yours!
Russ is right with the screw size. I used stainless but I really don't know which screw type is best. I did remove the turbo. I don't think I could have removed the screws with the turbo in the boat. Even with it out of the boat, I could not get it hot enough to get the screws out with a propane tor...

Re: Exhaust System Failure - Check Yours!
We had the same issue about three months ago. Two of the three bolts had corroded and snapped. We did not have the exhaust water backup. To work on it, I removed the exhaust elbow and turbocharger together. It took a lot of heat to extract the broken screws.

We keep extra life jackets and a small round gas grill in there. Mostly dead space.

We just bought a new dinghy. Our first two choices were back ordered with at least six month delays.

Re: Power Issue
Nick, After our problems that started this string last year we replaced our inverter. We replaced the Prosine with a Magnum MS2012 2000W inverter/charger and also replaced the control panel with a MW-RC50 remote control. The Magnum inverter is heavier than the Prosine. I am handy but electrical work...

Re: Lightweight Dinghy
Wow, tough dinghy market these days. I considered a lot of different Aluminum RIB's based on the input from all of you. I want something right around 9 foot. MY first choice was the AB 9 UL Aluminum Hull Inflatable (RIB) 9' 1", Gray Hypalon, 75 pounds. It is not available anywhere. We are plann...

Re: Lightweight Dinghy
Thanks everyone for all the replies. They are helpful. Mac, I noticed you power with a 5hp motor. Will it get on plane with two people with that motor? We currently have an older 79lb Yamaha 9.9hp with a 15hp carburetor. Runs great with but I am not a fan of of the 2 cycle engines. I have thought ab...

Lightweight Dinghy
Hi all, I am looking for thoughts on a lightweight RIB. We currently have a 9' 1" Caribe RIB with a Fiberglass hull that weighs in at a hefty 127 lbs. I would like to get a new lightweight dinghy about the same size. There are a number of them with aluminum hulls that are under 100 lbs. and som...

Re: Hull - Dent Deflection Depression Dimple - and Fender Placement
We have a couple of dimples on the starboard side also. Our boat has spent its life in Florida and the gelcoat was getting a little tired and very thin on the flybridge. We had the entire boat painted almost two years ago and had a discussion with the yard about them during the planning. Although th...

Re: Fuel Polishing
We have used a Diesel Biocide with every fill up since we purchased the boat six years ago. It will not cure a problem once you have growth in the tank, it is designed to prevent prevent growth. So, if you do not have a problem now, I would recommend using it. If have a problem, it needs to be taken...
