Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

2 check valves? I don't think a check valve on the output side of a vane pump is going to do any good. the pump is a check valve in itself and its the input side of the pump that needs to have the check valve to prevent losing prime the check valve i bought was off ebay and is clear plastic no metal...

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

First my source for all my entec solutions is doug jensen 386-872-1473. I believe he continues to consult for Mastery. Apparently the new entecs have this cooling circuitry using a 12vdc coolant pump Doug set me on this path stating the new systems use the johnson cm 30 pump with a 5/8 outlet. this ...

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

My boat has an entec genset which has/had the wonderful dual chamber water pump. After spending many hours and dollars I was advised that the now current solution to the pump problem is to install a 12 vdc electric coolant pump (johnson pump for MB turbochargers) and convert the belt driven pump to ...

Re: Flybridge enclosure??

Hi Ross, Thank you once again for all the help you have given me in the past. I agree being under the shade of the bimini underway in the west coast gets chilly. I had the flybridge enclosure installed at time of purchase (12/2007) by a canvas company in Stuart. All of my canvas which was a top, bri...

Cabin sole refinishing

I have my dog on my cat(boat that is). Although I have throw rugs down doggie has scratched the floor so its time to refinish. On a much earlier boat than my PDQ I learned about how thin veneers were on boats. Has anyone varnished their floorboards and what prep process was followed? Also finish mat...

Re: RPM vs speed with 75HP engines

The forum is filled with the overheating issue and having much lower water injection temperatures in the cool/cold Pacific I used to think that at least there was some benefit living in So CA. Last summer ran the engine to full power after entering the harbor entrance and off went the port engine te...

Re: RPM vs speed with 75HP engines

I realize that Divi Di is underway but I just could not restrain myself from adding to this thread. As a lapsed naval architect with some exposure to planning hull design (my supervisor in those days was D.L. Blount who now has his own firm) I can add some items to the discussion. The speed power cu...

Re: SS pipes to Transmission Oil Cooler

i went to a local marine oriented welding shop here in San Diego. The shop specializes in towers, davits, etc. mostly in polished stainless. They fabricated my pipes with only difference that their pipe bender couldn't quite make the same size radius as the original. Result was that the hoses to the...

Re: How well do the MV 34s hold their value?

I would suggest looking at older and newer build years to make a comparison regarding depreciation rates on the boats. Since you admit to being analytical try plotting a graph. If you purchase a 2005 build year and than attempt to resell in 2 years it should be equivalent to a 2003 right now. Engine...

Re: Vita Bella 4 Sale

Hi Ross, Thank you once again for helping me to figure out where to put additional AC outlets in my boat. I was curious when you put your boat on the market and now am even more curious as to what you considered before deciding to keep the PDQ. One of the listings for your boat stated that the steps...

Water Damage

There is a 2005 PDQ 34 listed on Yachtworld through Rhumbline by the name of Serenity. The listing states it suffered water damage in the starboard hull. From the description of the repairs it seems as though it was a significant amount of flooding I don't wish to rub salt in anyone's wound but woul...

Re: Prospective buyer of MV 34

I would add that the list boat of builders that failed after the 2008 crash is very long. If one researches the current owners of companies still in operation using the same brand name they are new owners that bought brand name and tooling . HInckley, Luhrs, Navigator, etc. Also check the prices on ...

Re: Cracked Lifeline Stanchions

Dont know if you are the original owner or not. I checked my stanchions and they look fine. I am the second owner of my boat. When I purchase it there was a foot long chunk on the bottom half of the toe rail about midships. I would wager there was an interesting oops tale that would go with that boo...

On my boat ALL the ceiling fixtures which are the salon, galley , head/stateroom walkway are on dimmers so I need to follow up with your vendor to see if they are dimmable.

Thank you
