Very nice! If you have time, you can add PDQ36 Hull 49, www.epstein.bz to the owners.
All the best,

Re: Battery Draw
Hi: The voltage you are reading is probably the voltage under load, thus it doesn't really indicate the charge level. If you were running your windlass voltage could go down to 10.5 for a few seconds. There are 300 page books written on how to measure true charge with load so I will endeavor not to ...

PDQ 36 cockpit cushions
Bonnie is making new cockpit cushions to match her new decor ideas. We have the old ones, which I think were new in early 2008 and almost never used. They are Sunbrella Persian Green. Two are 35" x 17.25" x 3", and two are 51.5" x 15" x 3". Bonnie would like $125 for th...

Re: decel to idle
Have you tried adjusting the idle screw a bit to increase the idle speed? It's possible that in all the mechanical work the cable is slightly off from the original position.

Re: Bigger dinghy?
We bought an AB aluminium 9'6" RIB with a 15hp 4 stroke. It weighs about the same as the old Avon 9'1" Fiberglass RIB and 8 hp 2 stroke we had - but is faster, dryer and has built in storage. Just note that the lift rings are not always in the same spot as the old dinks.

Re: reefing lines
I used a 10' 1/2" PVC pipe and cut notches near one end to act like a gaff (or big drain hair catcher). The best notch I found was to cut at a 45 degree angle and turn the knife part way back. Then bend them out like fish hooks. I caught the lost line on the first try. I attached a sketch as th...

Heading south down ICW
We are on our first trip south in our own boat, s/v Desert Star. We will have to fly home often, and leave the boat along the way, but at least we are starting the annual routine. We left Annapolis on Nov 2nd, and are in Cape Charles, VA to wait out the Nor'easter. Then we'll get moving again. We ar...

Re: Need doors for pdq 36 cabins/berths
Ours was the same way. My wife made curtains, so that airflow is not inhibited. If you want to buy a prefinished panel that matches, the closest we have found (and its practically identical) is Decora Cabinets/light cherry/Wheatfield color. ( http://www.decoracabinets.com ) If you find a kitchen cab...

New trampoline for PDQ 36
I had thought I could get another year out of our old Trampoline. But on the Labor Day trip I stepped down hard on it and a tear started along the rope bolt, almost sending my deck show into the Chesapeake Bay. We had a great experience purchasing one via Sunrise Yacht Products. Details are here at:...

Re: air conditioning
Here is a sketch if the layout I used. I did end up paying a place to do it, as it was looking like a lot of work. The boat had a previous AC unit, but the old duct work was weak, so we put in a new Manifold and ducts, all new hoses, new electric, new power plug, new thruhull, new pump, new pan, new...

Cistern off of hardtop
photo.JPG When we purchased our PDQ in 2008 is had holes drilled in the gutter on the hardtop to reroute water. I got the idea to attach hose adapters and collect rain water. So I glued in a hose adapter with epoxy that I purchased from Amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/Genova-53128-2x3-MIP-Adapter/dp...

Re: air conditioning
We have a 12000 BTU Climma AC/Heater (http://www.veco-na.com/compactboats25to65/compactunits.html). It wasn't cheap, but it works great, has a remote control, and can be powered by a Honda 2000 generator. We keep our boat on a mooring ball and have the generator as our only power. We have friends wi...

Re: New mainsail advice
We used Neil Pryde. The local Rep made it great as me measured for a slightly larger main and a 143% custom Genny with reefing foam strips. The sail quality is great and the slides are offshore quality. We got a great boat show price of under $5500 for both sails.
