I was cleaning out my work room and found the mast supports that the factory provided for the trip across Lake Ontario and down the canal when I purchased 36089. They attach to the port bow and stern hand rails.

Re: Fuel Polisshing?
I see fuel polishing beneficial for trawlers with large tanks..... My routine is to run until the main tank is about 1/4, then transfer fuel from the forward tank ( until it shows about 1/4) then drive for another day or so until it is convenient to fill both tanks. The point is that, if you are und...

Re: Anyone have PDQ 36 Sail Plan with Measurements?
Welcome to the PDQ family. One source of info for the 36 is to look at PDQ36.com. Manuals and other data can be found there. Unfortunately, the data you are looking for does not seem to be there. Hopefully some of the other owners will respond. An update..... there is a file there called 2008 PRHF R...

Re: St. Michaels, Maryland Anchorage or Dockage on San Domingo C
I went to St Michaels via San Domingo Creek in a 25 ft monohull with 18" draft in 1982. Had no problems but do not know how a 3 ft draft would do. There was a dock we tied up to.. watch out for the tidal range at the dock. Don't remember much else... CRS is taking over..

Re: MYSTERY MAST WELDS - EXPLANATION PLEASE!
I just talked to Dan Hofmann about this. He owned an Altair of that vintage. He agrees that it is a result of the tall rig and was probably from the factory that way.

Re: Cutlass Bearing Replacement
Hi Chet, I was present when Roger on Teamwork replaced his cutlass bearing. The prop must be removed... not the shaft. His bearing was very worn and he hoped replacing the bearing and Tide Seal would stop the seal leak. I think he said it was some better but it still leaked too much. Hope your new p...

Re: Racor Filters
I was told by the Yanmar folks in NJ that using a 2 micron on the secondary would cause higher temps in the pump.. the fuel flow helps cool the pump.

Re: Bent starboard rudder post.
When that happened to me on my 36, I removed the rudder by digging a hole deep enough to remove the rudder. I then drilled a new set screw hole about an inch higher in the rudder post.....just enough to let the rudder clear the bottom of the boat and reinstalled the rudder. It worked great...no perf...

There are several threads in the Powercat section that deal with reversing the direction of the bolt and using a locknut to secure the zinc.

Re: Synthetic Oil
Hi Chet,
When I attended the engine course at Mack Boring, the instructor indicated that we could use synthetic oil but the change interval should remain the same as regular oil.

Re: Prop Zincs
Hi Chet,
The ss cap screw should be 1 3/4 inches and locktite it. Use a plastic insert lock nut. You also will need a nut a little larger to take up the space that the head of the original bolt would fit in

Tides Marine Seals
I just helped Roger on Teamwork have his Tides Marine Seal changed on the port shaft. It was keaking badly at speed.... unfortunately, it still is... As a result I was looking at the Tides Marine web site to read the installation procedure and saw the following disclaimer: SPECIAL NOTE FOR PDQ MV34:...

Water in Starboard Hull
I have been chasing a water leak in my starboard hull for a year. I assumed the worst and viewed the shaft seal at all rpms ... no leak... checked the rudder post... no leak.. checked the A/C drain and it was connected to a thru hull.. Finally I ran the shower and flipped the shower sump pump on and...
