Re: Do you have an adjustable forestay?

Did you look inside the furler? With some (most?) you have to lift the furler to access the turnbuckle. It's in there.

Re: netting openings

Looks like 1/4-inch or just a wee hair less. Probably nominal 1/-inch.

(That's 1/4" chain and 1/2" rope)

Re: Watermaker for a 32?

The only PDQ 32 that I know of that had a water maker was Zero to Cruising. Although they sold the boat and are no longer active sailing or on this forum, the information should be in their blog. The home page is about bikes and Canada, but search and you will find PDQ stuff. The blog was very activ...

Re: supporting the hull on a 36

I think the great majority of yards just store them on their bottoms with stands. A better question is "has you boat been damaged by blocking? How?" I have seen damage to internal bulkheads caused by stands placed poorly. The bottom skins on these cats is only about 3/16-inch, because they...

Re: Ice maker GFI

If it is down stream of another GFI there is no advantage in it being GFI. One receptical protects the string. Look at the wiring instructions.

Some of the thought process: http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/2013/05/better-boarding-extended-transoms.html http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/2013/08/extended-transoms-process.html First, 2' seemed like enough to me. The PDQ 32 if kept light (mine was) is not a transom-dragger, not at rest. 2' is ...

Re: PDQ32+

^^ What he said. Though the performance improvements are real, my primary motivation was to ease dinghy and kayak boarding. They really are just fun at anchor. I did consider rudder mods, at the same time I was making the other changes. I decided they were not needed. Once the changes were complete,...

Re: Trampoline idea

If the gap is a problem, have them make a narrow strip with grommets and lace it in the gap, using the center lacing (it can be much lighter material). This common practice on some designs, including the Stiletto 27. I think this is the simpler and safer solution. I don't like having lacing where I ...

Re: Keel Modification

Yes, a genoa is required for proper balance. You will also need inboard tracks to get it sheeted right upwind. The keel extensions are step 2, in part because they are easy to do during a bottom job. The transom extensions help too, but not as much as the first two steps. And don't over sheet the ma...

Re: Keel Modification

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. I would bet the difference is VERY minor. If it bothers you (it might bother me), just screed on some filler (epoxy thicken with a fairing filler--not fumed silica--too hard to sand) with a straight edge and sand with a long board. That is if I am understand this...

Re: Imitation (inexpensive) Teak in the cockpit

Very slick! I've been happy with a wooden grating. What I like best is that of the grit and bits fall through, so that I'm not always looking at sand bits of debris. It is on a flexible backing, so I can lift it up with one hand and hose out under it several times each season. Basically, no more swe...

Re: Diesel engine mounts showing fiberglass cracks

^^ In reality, I would probably try that. BUT I would figure on many cleanings (first hot degreaser, followed by xylene), followed by lots of grinding, followed by laying relatively large area of several layers of 17 oz. biax in order to get a good foundation and bond. At least 8 inches square under...
